Coordination of Simultaneous Multi-RAT Camping
The present invention relates to the coordination of simultaneous multi-RAT camping in in a wireless communication network that provides radio access for a terminal device via at least a first and second wireless radio access operating with different radio access technologies. The improved multi-RAT camping is achieved by transmitting, by a network node, an indication regarding a set of camping areas, CAs, including a first set of camping areas being associated with the first RAT and a second set of camping areas being associated with the second RAT; performing, by the terminal device, camping in a coverage area defined based on the set of CAs; and updating, by the terminal device, the communication network with a geographic location of the terminal device a) when the terminal device enters a new coverage area being different from the coverage area defined by both the first and second set of CAs as a first mechanism, or b) when the terminal device enters a new coverage area being different from the coverage area defined by one of the first and second set of CAs as a second mechanism.
METHOD FOR REPORTING MEASUREMENT RESULT BY USER EQUIPMENT TRANSCEIVING DATA BY FIRST RADIO ACCESS TECHNOLOGY AND SECOND RADIO ACCESS TECHNOLOGY, AND DEVICE THEREFOR
The present disclosure relates to a communication technique for combining, with an IoT technology, a 5G communication system for supporting a data transmission rate higher than that of a 4G system, and to a system therefor. The present disclosure may be applied to intelligent services (e.g., a smart home, a smart building, a smart city, a smart car or connected car, healthcare, digital education, retail business, security and safety-related service, etc.), based on a 5G communication technology and an IoT-related technology. A method for a user equipment in a first communication system according to the present invention comprises a user equipment in an inactive state: transmits a paging area update request message; checks whether a timer associated with a paging area update has expired; and transitions into an idle state if a response message for the paging area update request message has not been received until the timer expired.

System and Method for Hierarchical Paging, Cell Selection and Cell Reselection
In one embodiment, a policy may be defined, which specifies that an operation be performed over a first set of channels before being performed over a second set of channels different than the first set of channels. The first set of channels may be associated with a first set of frequencies, and the second set of channels may be associated with a second set of frequencies. A network device may perform paging according to the defined policy. A user equipment (UE) may perform paging, page monitoring, cell selection triggered by paging, or cell reselection triggered by paging according to the policy. The policy may be hardcoded, pre-configured or dynamically configured using signaling messages.

Paging related methods and apparatus
A base station generates, e.g., based on current UE and current system information, a UE specific paging priority list for an idle or inactive mode UE identifying a set of (small cell base) stations which are to be used to subsequently page the UE. The base station communicates the paging priority list to the UE in a radio resource control release message. In some embodiments, the release message further conveys information indicating a maximum paging monitoring duration and/or a maximum number of paging cells to be monitored. The UE receives the release message and transitions into idle or inactive mode. The UE uses the communicated information to perform efficient paging, identifying which small cells are potential sources of a paging signal, and determine how long to monitor for a paging signal.
Coordination of simultaneous multi-RAT camping
The present invention relates to the coordination of simultaneous multi-RAT camping in a wireless communication network that provides radio access for a terminal device via at least a first and second wireless radio access operating with different radio access technologies.

BASE STATION AND RADIO TERMINAL FOR PERFORMING RADIO ACCESS NETWORK PAGING
A base station transmits, to another base station, a paging request that requests the another base station to page a user equipment, and receives, from the another base station, a message indicating that the paging has failed in the another base station for the user equipment. The another base station receives the paging request requesting the another base station to page a user equipment, and pages the user equipment based on the paging request received from the base station, and transmits to the base station a message indicating that the paging has failed in the another base station for the user equipment.
