Base station paging based on traffic content type
A system may be configured to receive traffic that is destined for a user device, determine a type of content associated with the traffic, determine, based on the type of content, a base station paging scheme, and locate the user device by using the base station paging scheme. In some implementations, a system may include a traffic content analyzer device to analyze header information of a data packet to identify a type of content of the data packet, and output a message that is based on the identified type of content; and a mobile management entity device to receive the message from the traffic content analyzer device, and locate an intended recipient of the data packet by paging one or more base stations using a paging scheme that is based on information in the message.
Paging extension for enhanced coverage global system for mobile (EC-GSM)
A radio access network (RAN) node, a wireless device and various methods are described herein for managing paging bandwidth. In one embodiment, the RAN node transmits a message (e.g., paging message, assignment message) to wireless devices, where the message comprises at least the following: (i) a page mode field which includes information indicating one or more coverage classes for which one or more paging messages were available for transmission during a time interval but were not transmitted to a plurality of wireless devices; and (ii) a used_downlink_coverage_class field which includes information indicating a coverage class associated with the transmitted message.

ENHANCED AND ADAPTIVE MOBILITY MANAGEMENT WITHIN A MOBILE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
A method for enhanced and adaptive mobility management within a mobile communication network includes: in a first step—upon a first mobile terminated service targeting a first user equipment—a first paging operation is performed targeting the first user equipment, and in a second step, either during the first step or subsequent to the first step—upon a second mobile terminated service targeting a second user equipment—a second paging operation is performed targeting the second user equipment. The first paging operation is performed—during the initial time interval—in a first paging area, and the second paging operation is performed—during the initial time interval—in a second paging area.
Method and apparatus for configuring UE information, base station and core network device
Methods and apparatuses are provided for configuring UE information. The method may include: after UE is controlled to switch from an RRC connected state to an RRC inactive state, a radio notification area is determined, where the radio notification area indicates a set of one or more cells and the UE in the RRC inactive state moving among the cells in the radio notification area does not cause a cell handover; and UE information of the UE is sent to all base stations within the radio notification area. The UE information of the UE in the RRC inactive state is synchronously configured to other base stations within the radio notification area, such that the base stations may accurately and efficiently determine the RRC state of the UE, thereby improving the transmission efficiency between the base station and the UE.
Paging False Alarm Mitigation at a User Equipment
A user equipment (UE) operates in a network. The UE receives, from the network, a paging area comprising a plurality of cells of the network. When the UE is in one of a radio resource control (RRC) inactive state or RRC idle state with respect to the network, the UE transmits a message to a first cell of the paging area based on the UE moving into a first coverage area of the first cell from a second coverage area of a second cell of the paging area. The UE then monitors the first cell for a page from the network.

Relay UE-assisted RAN Notification Area Update Procedure
This disclosure relates to a relay user equipment device (UE) assisting one or more remote UEs in performing a radio access network notification area (RNA) update procedure in a cellular communication system. The relay UE establishes a first relay connection with a first remote device. The first relay connection relays communications between the first remote device and a network. The relay UE transmits a first message to the network to initiate the RNA update procedure for the first remote device, receives an acknowledgment message from the network including updated connection information for the first remote device, and transmits the updated connection information to the first remote device.

System and method for managing a location of an alert for a remotely originating incoming communication
The present invention provides a paired device, a system and method for managing a location of an alert for a remotely originating incoming communication intended for a particular user to one or more of a plurality of devices associated with the particular user. The one or more of a plurality of devices includes a primary device and one or more secondary devices paired with the primary device. A detection is made via one or more sensors associated with a particular secondary device as to whether the particular secondary device is proximate to the particular user with which the particular secondary device is associated. A detection is then made via a local communication management module of the particular secondary device whether the particular secondary device is in communication with a local communication management module of the primary device with which the particular secondary device is paired. A user alert element of the particular secondary device to be activated for the remotely originating incoming communication intended for a particular user is then enabled, when the one or more sensors associated with a particular secondary device detects that the particular secondary device is proximate to the particular user with which the particular secondary device is associated, and when the local communication management module of the particular secondary device detects that the particular secondary device is not in communication with the primary device with which the particular secondary device is paired via a local communication management module of the primary device.
