The method includes obtaining information identifying at least one capability of the UE and taking into account the at least one capability of the UE when configuring at least one of the at least one paging occasion and the at least one paging transmission within each paging occasion.

A user equipment, apparatus for controlling user equipment, and method performed by user equipment includes receiving a radio resource control (RRC) Release message from a base station included in a radio access network (RAN). The RRC Release message includes an indication causing the user equipment to transition from an RRC connected state to a specific state, the specific state being a state in which a RRC connection is suspended for the user equipment. The user equipment is caused to transition from the RRC connected state to the specific state in response to receiving the RRC Release message, perform a cell reselection operation when the user equipment is in the specific state, and perform, when the user equipment in the specific state, an operation of causing the user equipment to transition from the specific state to an RRC idle state in response to reselecting a cell not supporting the specific state.

A user equipment, apparatus for controlling user equipment, and method performed by user equipment includes receiving a radio resource control (RRC) Release message from a base station included in a radio access network (RAN). The RRC Release message includes an indication causing the user equipment to transition from an RRC connected state to a specific state, the specific state being a state in which a RRC connection is suspended for the user equipment. The user equipment is caused to transition from the RRC connected state to the specific state in response to receiving the RRC Release message, perform a cell reselection operation when the user equipment is in the specific state, and perform, when the user equipment in the specific state, an operation of causing the user equipment to transition from the specific state to an RRC idle state in response to reselecting a cell not supporting the specific state.

Methods and apparatuses are described herein for paging procedures in wireless systems. For example, a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) may monitor one or more physical downlink control channels (PDCCHs) for paging resources associated with a first subset of synchronization signal (SS) blocks that corresponds to a first beam tracking area (BTA). On a condition that at least one measurement of at least one beam associated with the first subset of SS blocks is less than a predetermined threshold, the WTRU may transmit, to a base station (BS), a signal indicating a second BTA that is associated with a second subset of SS blocks. The signal includes a physical random access channel (PRACH) resource associated with a second group of SS blocks that corresponds to the second BTA.

Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a base station (BS) transmits, to a user equipment (UE), a first configuration of a first radio access network notification area (RNA) associated with paging of the UE while the UE is in an radio resource control (RRC) INACTIVE state, the first RNA comprising a first set of cells. In a further aspect, the BS transmits, to the UE, a second configuration of a second RNA associated with positioning of the UE while the UE is in the RRC INACTIVE state, the second RNA comprising a subset of the first set of cells.

In an aspect, a base station (BS) transmits, to a user equipment (UE), a first configuration of a first radio access network notification area (RNA) associated with paging of the UE while the UE is in an radio resource control (RRC) INACTIVE state, the first RNA comprising a first set of cells. The invention provides methods of transmitting and receiving a paging message, access network equipment, and terminal device equipment. The method of transmitting a paging message comprises: access network equipment determines a paging message; the access network equipment determines a paging start time and a continuous paging transmission time interval; and the access network equipment transmits, by employing beam sweeping, and according to the paging start time and the continuous paging transmission time interval, the paging message. Therefore, the embodiment can enhance quality of receiving a paging message.

The invention provides methods of transmitting and receiving a paging message, access network equipment, and terminal device equipment. The method of transmitting a paging message comprises: access network equipment determines a paging message; the access network equipment determines a paging start time and a continuous paging transmission time interval; and the access network equipment transmits, by employing beam sweeping, and according to the paging start time and the continuous paging transmission time interval, the paging message. Therefore, the embodiment can enhance quality of receiving a paging message.

A paging method, comprising: receiving a travel route of a terminal; determining a target base station corresponding to a cell through which the travel route passes; and if the terminal is to be paged, sending to the target base station paging signals used for paging the terminal so that the target base station broadcasts the paging signals. According to embodiments of the present disclosure, a target base station may be determined according to a cell through which a travel route of the terminal passes, and then the target base station broadcasts paging signals. When a terminal is located in a certain tracking area, a travel route of the terminal generally will not pass through cells corresponding to all of the base stations in the tracking area, but will only pass through cells corresponding to some of the base stations in the tracking area.
