The method may comprise the steps of: receiving a plurality of tracking area sets from a base station; receiving, from the base station, information about the mobility of a terminal; and selecting any one tracking area set that corresponds to the received terminal mobility information.

A technique of selecting a location area for paging of a mobile device in the wireless communication network is described herein. The technique includes registering the mobile device with a first cell within the wireless communication network, where the cell is included within a primary location area and one or more secondary location areas. The technique also includes determining a default location area index for the mobile device, where the default location area index identifies a default location area for the mobile device. The technique further includes receiving an indication from the mobile device to change from the default location area index to a secondary location area index. The secondary location area index identifies a secondary location that at least includes a sub-portion of the primary location area.

A mobility management processing method and apparatus are disclosed. The method includes: receiving, by an SMF network element, a data notification message that includes a PDU session identifier and that is sent by a UPF network element, and determining, based on the PDU session identifier, a session and SSC mode corresponding to the PDU session identifier and/or a service area of the UPF network element, where the UPF network element is a network element that establishes a PDU session corresponding to the PDU session identifier; determining a paging area based on the SSC mode and/or the service area of the UPF network element; and sending a first message including the paging area to an AMF network element, where the first message is used to trigger the AMF network element to page, in the paging area, a terminal that establishes the PDU session by using the UPF network element.

Embodiments of this disclosure provide a paging method and a related device. The method includes: obtaining, by an access and mobility management network element, a paging area of a terminal, determined by a network data analytics network element, where the paging area is smaller than a registration area of the terminal; receiving, by the access and mobility management network element, a downlink data notification sent by a session management network element, where the downlink data notification is used to notify that there is downlink data to be sent to the terminal; and sending, by the access and mobility management network element, a paging message to the terminal in idle mode within the paging area.

One embodiment of the present invention provides a method for performing a paging-related operation by a base station of a second user equipment (UE) having connection with a first UE in a wireless communication system, the method comprising the steps of: receiving a paging message for the second UE from a second MME by the base station; and when the second UE is in a radio resource control (RRC)-connected state while being in a core network (CN)-idle state, transmitting a message, including information related to a connection state of the second UE, as a response to the paging message to the second MME by the base station.

One embodiment of the present invention provides a method for performing a paging-related operation by a base station of a second user equipment (UE) having connection with a first UE in a wireless communication system, the method comprising the steps of: receiving a paging message for the second UE from a second MME by the base station; and when the second UE is in a radio resource control (RRC)-connected state while being in a core network (CN)-idle state, transmitting a message, including information related to a connection state of the second UE, as a response to the paging message to the second MME by the base station.

A paging processing method and a paging processing device are provided. The paging processing method includes: when a remote UE needs to monitor and/or receive a paging message through a paging relay, determining, by the remote UE, a relay UE corresponding to the remote UE, the relay UE being configured to monitor and/or receive the paging message transmitted by a network to the remote UE; establishing, by the remote UE, a paging relay connection with the relay UE; and after the establishment of the paging relay connection, monitoring and/or receiving, by the remote UE, the paging message forwarded by the relay UE.

The paging processing method includes: when a remote UE needs to monitor and/or receive a paging message through a paging relay, determining, by the remote UE, a relay UE corresponding to the remote UE, the relay UE being configured to monitor and/or receive the paging message transmitted by a network to the remote UE; establishing, by the remote UE, a paging relay connection with the relay UE; and after the establishment of the paging relay connection, monitoring and/or receiving, by the remote UE, the paging message forwarded by the relay UE.
