A system and method is disclosed for allowing a Third-Party (TP) User Equipment (UE) to use a base station/access point (BS/AP), such as a 4G eNodeB (eNB) or a 5G gNodeB (gNB) of a private network, such as an enterprise network to access components of a network core, such as an Evolved Packet Core (EPC) in the TP network while also having access to features provided by or through components of an EPC within the private network.

An apparatus for communicating over a circuit switched network and a packetized data network. The apparatus includes a packetized data modem, a circuit switched modem, and a hybrid processor. The packetized data modem is configured to communicate with the packetized data network over a packetized data radio link via a radio. The circuit switched modem is configured to communicate with the circuit switched network over a circuit switched radio link via the radio. The hybrid processor is configured to monitor a circuit switched sleep cycle and a packetized data sleep cycle, and is configured to direct the packetized data modem and the circuit switched modem to switch between the networks according to the sleep cycles by prioritizing communications with the circuit switched network above communications with the packetized data network.

Providing circuit switched operation in a wireless network

In an evolved UMTS terrestrial radio access network (E-UTRAN), paging may be performed using an international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) or S-temporary mobile subscriber identity (S-TMSI). With the paging, a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may send an extended service request message to the E-UTRAN and perform circuit switched (CS) fallback.

System enablers for multi-SIM devices

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE) to perform methods for enhancement of multi-SIM devices, such as UE 106. A network may increase paging retries for known MU-SIM devices, e.g., based on an indication of capabilities from a MU-SIM device. The indication may be via a NAS registration request, an RRC capability procedure, and/or an RRC UE assistance procedure. Additionally, a network may include an indication of a paging priority to the UE. The UE may then determine a response to the page based, at least in part, on the indicated priority. Further, the UE may indicate a tune-away to the network. The indication of the tune-away may include a cause and/or duration for the tune-away and may be provided at an RRC level or a network access stratum (NAS) level.

COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A communication system in which when judging to have received an RRC message from a communication terminal device, a base station device, for example, HeNB checks an MTCD indicator to be mapped to the received RRC message. Then, when judging that the UE that has transmitted the RRC message received is an MTCD being a device for machine type communication (MTC) from the checked MTCD indicator, the HeNB performs a concentration process on the data from the MTCD to the core network.

Throughput and Radio Resource Utilization for User Equipment Having Multiple Subscriber Identity Modules

A user equipment (UE) includes first and second subscriber identity modules (SIMs), possibly subscribed to different carriers. When the first SIM is in a connected state and the second SIM is in an idle state, the UE may need to periodically tune away a radio from a first frequency used for communication under the first SIM to a second frequency used for idle mode activity under the second SIM. The UE may provide to the network of the first SIM the second SIMs traffic activity pattern and/or serving frequency so that the network may provide coordinated configuration and/or scheduling for the UE device, e.g., in order to make the action of tuning away (and tuning back) the radio more efficient and/or to decrease the network impact of such radio tune aways (e.g., to decrease wasted uplink scheduling and wasted downlink transmissions for the first SIM).
