Seam abstraction in communications networks
A method for routing data in a network includes receiving, by a first network node, data to be routed using a first layer protocol to a second network node where the first network node is intermittently connected to the second network node over a link spanning a portion of the network. The first network node determines that the link fails to meet a communications criteria and encapsulates the data using a second layer protocol to produce encapsulated data. The second layer protocol is transparent to the first layer protocol and the encapsulated data includes connectivity instructions to route the encapsulated data to the second network node via a third network node. The second network node and the third network node are in communication across the portion of the network and the first network node is able to transmit the encapsulated data to the third network node.

Apparatuses and methods for Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS)-based emergency broadcast
A mobile communication device including a wireless transceiver and a controller is provided. The wireless transceiver performs wireless transmission and reception to and from a mobile communication network. The controller receives a Protocol Data Unit (PDU) associated with a Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) from the mobile communication network via the wireless transceiver, and converts the PDU to a format which allows a dialer application to play the MBMS in response to the MBMS belonging to an emergency service type.

Apparatuses and methods for coordinating transmission paths of a multi-radio dual connectivity (MR-DC) operation
A method executed by a User Equipment (UE) supporting Multi-Radio Dual Connectivity (MR-DC) with a first cell group and a second cell group in a mobile communication system is provided. The UE configures a primary path to the first cell group and a secondary path to the second cell group for uplink transmissions in an MR-DC operation. The UE determines whether the primary path is inapplicable when performing the uplink transmissions on the primary path. The UE switches from the primary path to the secondary path to continue the uplink transmissions in response to the primary path being inapplicable.

Method and device for determining an uplink-downlink switching point
The present disclosure provides a method and device for determining an uplink-downlink switching point. The method is used in a base station. The method includes: setting configuration information for determining an uplink-downlink switching point; and sending the configuration information to the terminal, so that the terminal determines the uplink-downlink switching point according to the configuration information. Therefore, the present disclosure can prevent the terminal from performing invalid detection on an unlicensed carrier, and can also improve the speed and accuracy of determining the uplink-downlink switching point by the terminal.

Refreshing security keys in 5G wireless systems
Techniques for refreshing security keys for enciphering and deciphering packets in a wireless communications system are provided. An exemplary method generally includes transmitting, while in a state with no dedicated resources allocated to the UE, a first message to request resumption of a radio resource control (RRC) connection, the first message encrypted using a first set of one or more keys, receiving, in response to the first message, a second message encrypted using the first set of one or more keys or a second set of one or more keys, determining, based on an indication in the second message or received prior to the second message, whether portions of the second message are encrypted using the second set of one or more keys, and processing the second message using the first set of one or more keys or the second set of one or more keys, based on the determination.
EFFICIENT MULTIPLEXING OF CONTROL INFORMATION IN TRANSPORT BLOCK
Provided are systems and methods for transmitting data over a wireless channel from a data transmitting node to a data receiving node in a communication system. The data transmitting node comprises second-layer processing circuitry for receiving at least one second-layer SDU, to be mapped onto a resource allocated for data transmission, and for generating a second-layer PDU, including the at least one second-layer SDU and at least one second-layer control element, and first-layer processing circuitry for receiving the second-layer PDU generated by the second-layer processing circuitry and for mapping the second-layer PDU onto the resource allocated for data transmission. The data receiving node comprises first-layer processing circuitry for de-mapping at least one second-layer PDU, and second layer processing circuitry for receiving and parsing the second-layer PDU demapped by the first-layer processing circuitry, the second-layer PDU including at least one second-layer SDU, and at least one second-layer control element.
