User Plane for Fifth Generation Cellular Architecture
20190223131 · 2019-07-18 ·

Apparatuses, systems, and methods to perform attachment of a wireless device to a next generation gateway via either a base station of a next generation radio access network (RAN) or a mobility management entity of a legacy RAN. An apparatus may be configured to receive an attachment request from a wireless device, determine authentication information via communication with a home subscriber server, determine, based at least in part on the authentication information, whether the wireless device is capable of communicating via the next generation RAT, and send, in response to determining the wireless device is capable, a connection request to a gateway of the next generation RAN. The authentication information may include subscription information associated with the wireless device.

DATA PROCESSING METHOD AND SYSTEM

A data processing method when the handover or change appears between systems includes: a Mobility Management network element sends a data forwarding tunnel identifier of a target side processing network element to a user plane anchor network element, obtains a data forwarding tunnel identifier of the user plane anchor network element, and sends the data forwarding tunnel identifier of the user plane anchor network element to a source data forwarding network element.

Multi-line mobile service with dynamic MSISDN association

A network device receives a location update message from a mobile network switch. The location update message indicates that a mobile device is registered with the mobile network switch. The location update message includes an international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) associated with the mobile device. The network device determines, based at least on the IMSI, a plurality of MSISDNs associated with the mobile device, including a first MSISDN that is enabled for calling and a second MSISDN that is not enabled for calling. The network device transmits, in response to the location update message, subscriber data to a database associated with the mobile network switch, which associates the IMSI with the first MSISDN.

NETWORK SERVICE EXPOSURE FOR SERVICE AND SESSION CONTINUITY

The present application is at least directed a system for managing a server transition associated with user equipment. The system includes a non-transitory memory and a processor that is operably coupled to the non-transitory memory. The processor is configured to perform the instructions of receiving a relocation request from a first server to switch to another server. The processor is also configured to verify credentials of the first server. The processor also determines whether a first core networking terminating point associated with the first server is appropriate for the other server to communicate with the user equipment. Further, the processor sends a result of the determination to the user equipment.

Emergency call handling using over-the-top services

Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, are provided for emergency call handling. In one aspect there is provided a method. The method may include receiving, at a user equipment, an indication from a network, the indication representative of at least one of whether a carrier grade voice over cellular packet data call is available at a cell serving the user equipment or whether an over-the-top service is available at the cell serving the user equipment; and initiating, by the user equipment based on the received indication from the network, a call via the over-the-top service, when the indication represents the carrier grade voice over cellular packet data call is not available at the cell serving the user equipment and the over-the-top service is available at the cell serving the user equipment. Related apparatus, systems, methods, and articles are also described.

Methods and systems for returning an early positioning fix

Disclosed are methods and systems for supporting positioning operations in a cellular communication network including locating a mobile device in response to an emergency event. In one particular implementation, a first position fix may be provided quickly by a mobile device and may be followed by a second, more accurate, position fix at a later time. In particular implementations, the first and second position fixes may be provided using the 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) Positioning Protocol (LPP) as part of a single LPP transaction and may further be provided using a user plane or control plane location solution.

Systems and methods for communicating in a point to multipoint (PTMP) network that includes an aerial station and a plurality of ground stations. The method includes the aerial station receiving positional information of a ground station of the plurality of the ground stations, selecting antenna elements on a phased antenna array for generating a directional beam based on the positional information, sweeping the directional beam to cover the plurality of ground stations, determining that the directional beam has a beam width sufficient to cover the plurality of ground stations and a transmit power sufficient to provide signals to the ground stations based on the sweeping of the directional beam; and establishing a radio link between the aerial station and the ground station in the plurality of ground stations.
