Service registration in a communications network
In an example aspect, a method for service registration in a communications network is provided. The method comprises receiving a service registration request, the request identifying a network function to provide a service, a type of the service, and a version of the service, and storing information in a repository, the information identifying the network function, the type of the service and the version of the service.
Communication system and policy control device
A policy and charging rules function (PCRF) stores a policy rule management table in which a policy rule corresponding to a combination of contract information and a device type is registered and a hierarchical management table in which user information including contract information of a user and information on the device are managed in association with each other, acquires the device type serving as an application target of the policy rule, and a device ID assigned to the device, determines the policy rule according to the acquired device type and the contract information of the user, and instructs a deep packet inspection (DPI) to apply the determined policy rule to the device corresponding to the acquired device ID. The DPI acquires the device ID, and applies the policy rule to communication from the device corresponding to a device ID assigned to the device, and performs control.

Mesh-based home security system
A network management system manages the operation of a home security system in a communication network, such as a mesh network. The home security system can include multiple components such as a camera, a lighting device, a security alarm, a doorbell switch and doorbell chime, and a fingerprint sensor, which connect with the communication network to perform various operations. The network management system monitors environmental parameters of the communication network, such as parameters associated with the access points and components of the home security system, determines an access point to which a component of the home security system is to be connected for efficient operation of the home security system, and connects the component to the communication network via the determined access point.
Multi-sensor motion detection
Use of multiple sensors to determine whether motion of an object is occurring in an area is described. In one aspect, an infrared (IR) sensor can be supplemented with a radar sensor to determine whether the determined motion of an object is not a false positive.
COMMUNICATION ASSOCIATED WITH EDGE COMPUTING
A disclosure of the present specification provides a method for performing, by a visited public land mobile network-policy control function (V-PCF), communication using edge computing. The method comprises the steps of: establishing UE policy association with a home public land mobile network-policy control function (H-PCF); receiving a first subscription message from the H-PCF; and transmitting a second subscription message to a visited public land mobile network-unified data repository (V-UDR). The first subscription message is a message that requests a notification, according to edge application server (EAS) information being updated or modified, the second subscription message is a message that requests a notification, according to the EAS information being updated or modified, the second subscription message is based on the first subscription message, and the EAS information may be information that is generated by an application function (AF) and transmitted to the V-UDR.
Apparatus and method for a unified slice manager
Systems and methods are described to enable a so-called ‘unified slice’, wherein the unified slice is technology-independent, i.e., constructed from different networking technologies, and spans multiple operators. The method provides an abstraction of a network slice and its segments, and a way to coordinate the end-to-end slice information collection, slice segment configuration and activation across multiple types of networks and operators. The system of invention has the task of coordinating configuration of an end-to-end slice, with user-specified slice parameters, by communicating with the respective slice managers; It receives information to generate an abstract model of each slice segment, and sends the required slice segment attributes to these slice managers so that they can activate the segment after translating them according to capabilities of their network technology.
