A heating device for a floor includes a membrane, a plurality of heating elements attached to the membrane, at least one positively charged electrode attached to each of the heating elements and at least one negatively charged electrode attached to each of the heating elements, where the at least one positively charged electrode and the at least one negatively charged electrode are connected to an electrical power source and supply electrical power to the heating elements. The heating elements, the at least one positively charged electrode and the at least one negatively charged electrode are arranged on the membrane so that cutting of the membrane along a cutting line in any direction across the membrane does not disrupt the supply of electrical power to the heating elements.

The corresponding flange portions of adjacent projections do not face in the same direction or the opposite direction, providing for a minimum number of flange portions to be used.

A panel comprising a heat providing layer is presented. The panel includes panel coupling means arranged for coupling the panel to adjacent panels. In order to provide heat, longitudinal grooves are arranged in the panel along the whole length of the panel. Electrical end connectors are arranged in the longitudinal grooves to protrude from at least one end side of the panel. The electrical end connectors are arranged for being electrically connected to the heat providing layer, and for being electrically connectable to at least one corresponding end connector of at least one adjacent panel, and for being at least partly resilient, thereby providing a connecting force F.sub.con being essentially perpendicular to the at least one of the first and the second end sides when the panel is coupled to at least one adjacent panel, and being directed towards at least one corresponding end connector of the at least one adjacent panel.

The floor panel includes a controller housing, a first heated panel configured to heat the floor panel, a panel connector arranged in a wall of the controller housing, at least one power line coupled between the panel connector and the first heated panel and configured to supply electric power, which is input to the panel connector, to the first heated panel, a switch connected in one of the power lines, and a microcontroller connected to the switch and configured to actuate the switch for interrupting the electric power supply to the first heated panel in case of an electric fault in the floor panel.
