Venous blood flow stimulator for extracorporeal therapy
11793709 · 2023-10-24 · ·

A blood flow stimulator may help encourage blood flow in a limb of a patient. The blood flow stimulator may include a housing configured for sealing about the limb of the patient. The housing may include a sealable volume, and the sealable volume may receive the limb of the patient. The blood flow stimulator may include a seal, and the seal may be coupled with the housing. The seal may engage with at least a portion of the limb, for instance to segregate the sealable volume from a surrounding environment of the blood flow stimulator. The blood flow stimulator may include a conduit extending through the housing. The conduit mat help provide access to the sealable volume, for instance from the surrounding environment. In some examples, an adjustable stent is utilized to enhance blood flow within vasculature of a patient. A stent operator may change a size of the stent.

Fluid conveyance safety devices, methods, and systems

A vascular access device may include a blood circuit having an arterial blood line and a venous blood line. The venous blood line is connected to a first access needle and the arterial blood line is connected to a second access needle. The venous blood line is connected to an access component affixed to the second access needle and configured such that when the second access needle is used to infuse blood into a patient, the access component is positioned to withdraw blood and convey it into the venous line. The withdrawn blood may also be conveyed to an air detector to detect withdrawal of the second access needle.

Catheter assembly

A catheter assembly includes a catheter having a main lumen and a sub lumen and an inner needle inserted through and disposed in the main lumen and allowing blood to flow in the proximal direction of the catheter from a needle tip exposed at the distal end of the catheter. The gap between an outer peripheral surface of the inner needle and a first inner peripheral surface of the main lumen continuous with the distal end of the catheter is narrower than the gap between the outer peripheral surface of the inner needle and a second inner peripheral surface closer to the proximal end side than the first inner peripheral surface.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PERFORMING MEDICAL PROCEDURES INVOLVING ACCESSING THE LYMPHATIC SYSTEM

System and methods are provided for treating a patient that include a delivery device sized for introduction into a target site within a patient's body, a source of one or more therapeutic and/or diagnostic agents coupled to the delivery device, and a tubular member sized for introduction into the patient's vasculature to isolate the thoracic duct. Once the thoracic duct is isolated, fluid may be removed from the thoracic duct, e.g., to prevent the agents that transit from the target site into the thoracic duct from entering the patient's vasculature, and/or to modulate flow through the thoracic duct to modulate concentration and/or resident time of the agents at the target site. The one or more agents may include particles sized for preferential transit into the lymphatic system.

Split-Tip Catheter Including Lateral Distal Openings

A subcutaneous tunneling device includes a shaft having a bend, a catheter connector extending from a distal end of the shaft distal of the bend, and a sleeve. The catheter connector can include a body having a gripping portion, and a barbed extension distal of the body configured for insertion into a lumen of a catheter. The sleeve is slidably mounted on the shaft, and has a retracted position exposing the catheter connector to permit a distal end of a catheter to be coupled thereto, and an extended position covering the catheter connector and the distal end of the catheter.

Methods and systems for establishing retrograde carotid arterial blood flow

Devices and methods establish and facilitate retrograde or reverse flow blood circulation in the region of the carotid artery bifurcation in order to limit or prevent the release of emboli into the cerebral vasculature such as into the internal carotid artery. The methods are particularly useful for interventional procedures performed through a transcarotid approach or transfemoral into the common carotid artery.

A connector arrangement (10) for connecting to a fluid chamber (6) of a blood treatment unit (4) for extracorporeal blood treatments. The connector arrangement (10) includes a connector device (11) with a connector body (47) comprising a port opening (43) and an interior wall (50) defining a port space (39) designed to receive a first fluid port (8A) of the fluid chamber (6). The connector device (11) also incorporates a fluid path (35a) extending from the port space (39) to a first end opening (51) of the connector device (11), and an air path (36a) extending from the port space (39) to a second end opening (52) of the connector device (11), wherein the fluid path (35a) and the air path (36a) are separate paths. Also a system (1) for extracorporeal blood treatment including the connector arrangement (10) and a method for priming the fluid chamber (6).

Infusion methods for extracoporeal systems

A method of operating an extracorporeal blood treatment system to infuse blood into a patient at an end of an extracorporeal blood treatment includes clamping an access line of an arterial line set. The method further includes, after clamping the access line, initiating an operation to generate negative pressure in the arterial line set. The method further includes, after generating the negative pressure in the arterial line set, unclamping the access line to draw fluid in the access line further into the arterial line set in a direction away from an end of the access line that is connectable to an arterial access of the patient. The method further includes initiating an operation of a fluid pump engaged with the arterial line set such that the fluid in the arterial line set is infused into the patient through a venous line set.
