PARTICLE BEAM ACCELERATOR AND PARTICLE THERAPY SYSTEM
In a magnetic device 1, on faces opposite to a middle plane 2 between an upper magnetic pole 8 and a lower magnetic pole 9, recesses 21a, 21b, 21c, and 21d and projections 22a, 22b, 22c, and 22d are alternately placed along a beam circling direction. In the projections 22a, 22b, 22c, and 22d, angle widths θ of the projections 22a, 22b, 22c, and 22d when viewed from the center O1 of a beam closed orbit is narrowed as beam energy is increased. On the outer circumferential region of the recess 21a on the upper magnetic pole 8 and the lower magnetic pole 9, the inlet of an extraction channel 1019 that extracts a beam accelerated to a predetermined energy to outside an accelerator 1004 is provided.

Circular accelerator, particle therapy system with circular accelerator, and method of operating circular accelerator
In a circular accelerator that applies a radiofrequency wave in a main magnetic field to accelerate charged particle beam while increasing an orbit radius, another radiofrequency wave with a frequency different from the radiofrequency wave used for acceleration is applied to the charged particle beam in order to extract the charged particle beam. Thereby, in the circular accelerator that accelerates charged particle beam while increasing an orbit radius by applying a radiofrequency wave in a main magnetic field, the high precision control on extraction of the charged particle beam from the circular accelerator is achieved.

PERMANENT MAGNET INSERTION DEVICE AND METHODS OF USE THEREOF
The present technology relates to a permanent magnet insertion device that includes a frame and a plurality of single pole assemblies adjacently disposed within the frame. Each of the single pole assemblies includes a first member bearing a first permanent-magnet and a second member bearing a second permanent-magnet. The first permanent-magnet and the second permanent-magnet are spaced apart by a gap. At least one of the first member or the second member is movable relative to the other of the first member or the second member to increase or to decrease a dimensional value of the gap. A hydraulic driver is configured to move the first member relative to the second member to increase or to decrease the dimensional value of the gap. A mechanical driver is configured to move the first member relative to the second member to increase or to decrease the dimensional value of the gap.
CYCLOTRON
There is provided a cyclotron which accelerates a charged particle in an orbital trajectory to emit a charged particle beam. The cyclotron includes a magnetic pole that generates a magnetic field required for accelerating the charged particle, and a magnetic channel portion having a magnetic channel disposed on an outer peripheral portion of the orbital trajectory to guide the charged particle beam to an extraction trajectory and to focus the charged particle beam. The magnetic channel portion is attached to the magnetic pole.

Electromagnetic accelerator
An electromagnetic accelerator system may include a barrel defining a bore through which an acceleration path extends. An electromagnetic coil may be positioned around the barrel such that the acceleration path extends through a core of the electromagnetic coil. A first electrical contact may be positioned along the acceleration path approximately within the core of the electromagnetic coil and electrically coupled to the electromagnetic coil. A second electrical contact may position along the acceleration path approximately within the core of the electromagnetic coil and spaced apart from the first electrical contact. The second electrical contact may be electrically coupleable to the first electrical contact to complete a circuit when a projectile to be accelerated is positioned therebetween.
