Body Temperature Measurement Devices, Methods, and Systems

A patient's body temperature measurement may be made by varying the heat transfer dynamics of a fluid exiting the patient's body and fitting parameters of heat transfer configuration to measurements under the varied conditions. Then the input temperature of the patient core can be extracted from the model and a current temperature measurement remote from the patient core and optionally other measurements such as fluid flow rate.

The fluid sensor system can include a sensor module that includes a sensing channel configured to receive a sample fluid, two or more calibration compartments, and a sensing element configured to interact with the sample fluid in the sensing channel. The fluid sensor system can include a reader that is electrically and mechanically coupled to the sensor module. The reader includes a controller that is configured to control operation of the fluid sensor system.

Flow Reversing Device

A flow switch device includes a flow switch with four ports oriented at 90 degree intervals around a center of the flow switch. The flow switch is of a type that forms selectable flow passages between ports separated by 90 degrees and blocks flow between ports separated by 180 degrees in each of multiple selected positions. Two of the ports are connected to fixed flow passages and each of the fixed flow passages defines a flow path toward a remote port separated from each of the fixed flow passages by 180 degrees so that each of the fixed flow passages and a respective remote port are positioned in pairs on opposite sides of the flow switch.

A blood treatment system and method controlling same are provided. The system comprises a blood pump for urging blood from an arterial or venous interface through a blood flow path; a dialyser in fluid communication with said blood flow path for ultrafiltering the blood to remove fluid therefrom; a fluid removal pump in fluid communication with said dialyser for urging ultrafiltered fluid away from said dialyser; a controller in signal communication with said blood pump; and a reversing valve for selectively reversing direction of blood flow in at least a portion of the blood flow path under signal control of said controller. The blood pump is selectively activatable under signal control of the controller.

DISPOSABLE AND SYSTEM WITH A PORT

The present disclosure relates to a disposable, which includes a fluid line and a connector having a connector lumen, for fluidically connecting the fluid line to a first lumen of a first fluid guide of a port, which further includes a second lumen. It further relates to a system with a disposable according to the present disclosure and with a port for establishing a fluid communication between at least one fluid line of a medical treatment apparatus, which fluid line is assigned to an interior of the medical treatment apparatus, and a connector of a fluid line of a disposable, which fluid line is assigned to an exterior of the medical treatment apparatus.

Medical Device Leak Sensing Devices, Methods, and Systems

Features for protecting against leaks in a fluid circuit are disclosed. In an embodiment, a first indicator of a leak is used to trigger confirmation by blood flow reversal and air detection in the blood circuit. A method for performing a blood treatment includes, at blood treatment machine, pumping blood to a patient through a first blood line. Further, at a controller of the blood treatment machine, a first signal is received, indicating a probability of a leak in the first blood line. Responsively to the first signal, the controller commands a leak verification operation and receives a second signal indicating whether a leak in the first blood line is verified. Further, a leak indicating signal is generated if the second signal indicates a leak is verified.

An apparatus for measuring pressure within a fluid path includes a housing defining the structure of the apparatus. The housing includes a fluid path that extends through the housing and allows a fluid to pass through the housing. The apparatus also includes a first volume chamber that is in fluid communication with the fluid path and has a first volume chamber opening, and a second volume chamber with a second volume chamber opening that is less than the first volume chamber opening. A diaphragm separates the first volume chamber from the second volume chamber and fluidly disconnects the second volume chamber from the fluid path. The diaphragm deforms based upon the pressure within the fluid path. The apparatus also includes an interface that is connectable to a pressure sensor, and the second volume chamber is in fluid communication with the interface.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PERFORMING MEDICAL PROCEDURES INVOLVING ACCESSING THE LYMPHATIC SYSTEM

System and methods are provided for treating a patient that include a delivery device sized for introduction into a target site within a patient's body, a source of one or more therapeutic and/or diagnostic agents coupled to the delivery device, and a tubular member sized for introduction into the patient's vasculature to isolate the thoracic duct. Once the thoracic duct is isolated, fluid may be removed from the thoracic duct, e.g., to prevent the agents that transit from the target site into the thoracic duct from entering the patient's vasculature, and/or to modulate flow through the thoracic duct to modulate concentration and/or resident time of the agents at the target site. The one or more agents may include particles sized for preferential transit into the lymphatic system.
