Collection system for surgical use
A surgical collection assembly for filtering material from liquid obtained during surgery. A jar having an inlet and an outlet each adapted for connection to a suction line. A set of orientation features to position an upper portion of a collection basket within the jar such that an upper portion of the collection basket does not impede a flow of material entering the jar through the inlet. A bottom surface with a pattern of recessed paths in the bottom surface, the pattern of recessed paths connected to the outlet. A plunger assembly that may be reversibly attached to the jar so that a distal end of a plunger may be used to compress collected material within the collection basket to help remove fluid from the collected material. For certain uses, the surgical collection assembly may have a simple jar lid without an integrated plunger.
Devices for blood capture and reintroduction during aspiration procedure
A blood reintroduction system may include a canister configured to collect blood. The system may include an inlet configured to be fluidly connected to a first tubing in fluid communication with an aspiration system configured to apply aspiration to a vasculature of a patient. The system may include a first outlet configured to be fluidly connected to a second tubing in fluid communication with an aspiration pump. The system may include a second outlet configured to interact with a blood reintroduction device, wherein the blood reintroduction device is configured to withdraw the blood collected inside the canister. The system may include a filter positioned inside a flow path leading to the second outlet.
Surgical waste collection unit with a manifold receiver that is offset relative to the horizontal
A surgical waste collection unit with a receiver for removably holding a manifold to which suction lines are connected. The receiver is mounted to the waste collection unit to be at an acute angle relative to the horizontal. The receiver is further configured to allow the manifold to be rotated in the receiver. This means the manifold can be rotated from a first position in which the manifold outlet opening is aligned with the conduit through which waste is flowed from the receiver and a second position in which the manifold outlet opening is elevated relative to the first position.
Capacitive fluid level sensing
A capacitive fluid level sensing arrangement for use in a medical device is provided. The arrangement includes at least one pair of conductive plates configured to increase and decrease the amount of electric charge stored in relation to the level of fluid within a fluid maintaining device, such as a reservoir. The conductive plates are electrically connected to a medical device and are configured to measure the charge stored between the plates and thus sense the fluid level. The electric circuit may communicate the measurement to an instrument host arrangement for operating a pump configured to remove fluid from the reservoir and move the fluid to a collector when the level exceeds a preset upper level amount. The instrument host arrangement may stop operating the pump when the fluid level is reduced to a preset lower level amount.
Portable Device With Disposable Reservoir For Collection Of Internal Fluid After Surgery From A Plurality Of Sites Simultaneously
A system, method, and apparatus for the collection of surgical/wound fluid from a subject patient with the capability of simultaneous fluid removal from a plurality of such wounds and/or wound through the utilization of a single pump device worn by such a patient. Such a system, method, and apparatus allow for such a single pump device to collect surgical/wound fluid within a single site collection component attached to or associated with such a single pump device. Multiple fluid transfer lines may be incorporated with the single pump device leading to such plurality of wounds and/or wound sites for greater versatility and comfort for the subject patient, as well as cleaner removal capabilities than in the standard apparatus systems and method currently undertaken within the industry.
Surgical waste collection assembly with a manifold receiver and a manifold with complementary features that faciliate the alignment of the manifold with the manifold receiver
MANIFOLD FOR A SURGICAL WASTE COLLECTION UNIT, THE MANIFOLD INCLUDING PLURAL ALIGNMENT TABS
A manifold for use with a surgical waste collection unit. The manifold includes a housing dimensioned to seat in a receiver of the waste collection unit with a fitting for receiving a suction tube. The housing has an outlet opening through which a suction is drawn so as to draw waste through the suction line, the fitting and the housing into the waste collection unit. Two tabs extends radially outwardly from the housing. The tabs are dimensioned to engage complementary slots in the receiver so as to facilitate the rotation alignment of the manifold in the receiver. In many versions of the invention, the tabs subtend different arcuate lengths. A filter is disposed in the housing to filter material that, as a consequence of the suction being drawn on the housing, is drawn through the housing.
SURGICAL WASTE COLLECTION ASSEMBLY WITH A MANIFOLD RECEIVER AND A MANIFOLD WITH COMPLEMENTARY FEATURES THAT FACILIATE THE ALIGNMENT OF THE MANIFOLD WITH THE MANIFOLD RECEIVER
Arrangements and methods for avoiding spreading of infectious agents and improving electric safety and suction performance of a medical aspirator
Vacuum pump (18) for a medical aspirator (10), the pump (18) comprising a tubular member (20); a piston (22) slidably arranged within the tubular member (20); a piston rod (24) connected to the piston (22); and a coupling mechanism (36) for detachably and functionally connecting the piston rod (24) to a motor (38) for driving the pump (18), wherein the piston rod (24) is configured to reciprocate linearly during operation of the pump (18).
