A catheter, a kit and a method of using the catheter for removing a thrombus from a blood vessel in a mammal. The catheter includes a tubular body with a hollow interior, an exterior surface, a proximal end, and a distal end and a plurality of protrusions extending upwardly from the exterior surface, wherein each protrusion has an aperture. The distal end of the catheter is inserted into the blood vessel and a suction is applied to the proximal end of the catheter to aspirate the thrombus from the blood vessel. The kit includes the catheter, a suction device and a mechanism for controlling the suction flow.

SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR REMOVING UNDESIRABLE MATERIAL WITHIN A CIRCULATORY SYSTEM UTILIZING DURING A SURGICAL PROCEDURE

A method for capturing dislodged vegetative growth during a surgical procedure is provided. The method includes maneuvering, into a circulatory system, a first cannula having a distal end and an opposing proximal end, such that the first cannula is positioned to capture the vegetative growth en bloc. A second cannula is positioned in fluid communication with the first cannula, such that a distal end of the second cannula is situated in spaced relation to the distal end of the first cannula. A suction force is provided through the distal end of the first cannula so as to capture the vegetative growth. Fluid removed by the suction force is reinfused through the distal end of the second cannula. Subsequent to becoming dislodged, the vegetative growth is captured by the first cannula. A method for capturing a vegetative growth during removal of a pacemaker lead is also provided.

Ophthalmic microsurgical tools, systems, and methods of use

A system for extracting lens material from an eye including an instrument having a first aspiration pump driven by a drive mechanism having a motor, and an elongate member sized and configured to extend through an anterior chamber to a capsular bag of the eye. The elongate member configured to be oscillated by the drive mechanism includes an inner lumen fluidly coupled to the first aspiration pump and defining at least a portion of an aspiration waste line, and an open distal end having a distal cutting tip. The system can further include a fluid system remote from the surgical instrument including a second aspiration pump and a fluid line configured to deliver background aspiration from the second aspiration pump to the inner lumen of the elongate member to aspirate the lens material from the eye towards the inner lumen. Related devices, systems, and methods are also provided.

A surgical drain tray assembly includes a fluid impermeable first layer and a porous second layer positioned on the fluid impermeable first layer. The fluid impermeable first layer includes a drain outlet, a basin, and a sloping surface angled toward the basin, the drain outlet being positioned within the basin. The porous second layer may be formed of a foam material and includes a top work surface. Fluids spilled onto the work surface pass through the porous second layer to the fluid impermeable first layer. The sloping surface of the fluid impermeable first layer conveys the fluids toward the basin for draining through the drainage outlet.
