System and method for aseptic collection of mammalian amniotic fluid
A system for aseptic collection of mammalian amniotic fluid. The system includes a cannula having an attachment end and external end. The attachment end provides a concentric opening to a hollow chamber disposed about a central passage. The hollow chamber has a port disposed adjacent to the external end permitting at least a partial suction to be established within the hollow chamber, the attachment end thereby suctionally attached to a surface when the attachment end is disposed upon the surface. The central passage provides access to a central portion of the surface surrounded by the concentric opening of the hollow chamber. An extraction needle is disposed within the central passage of the cannula and presented to the central portion of the surface. The extraction needle penetrates the central portion of the surface and extracts amniotic fluid there beneath. An associated method of use is also provided.
Peel And Place Dressing For Thick Exudate And Instillation
A multi-layer dressing for treating tissue with negative pressure, instillation, or both. In some embodiments a first layer may be formed from reticulated foam having a series of holes. A second layer disposed adjacent to the first layer may be formed from a perforated polymer. The dressing may optionally include a third layer formed from a soft polymer, such as a silicone gel. The third layer may also have perforations or apertures. The third layer is generally oriented to face a tissue site, and may be disposed adjacent to the first layer so that the first layer is disposed between the third layer and the first layer. The perforations or apertures in the third layer may be registered with one or more perforations in the first layer.
Apparatuses, systems, and methods for managing liquid flow associated with a tissue site using the presence of reduced pressure
The illustrative embodiments described herein are directed to apparatuses, systems, and methods for managing liquid flow associated with a tissue site that involves using reduced pressure to control fluid flow. In one instance, an apparatus includes a first valve and a second valve in fluid communication with a reduced-pressure source. The valves are movable between an open position and a closed position and are operable to change flow status (open to closed or vice versa) based on a presence of reduced pressure. At least one of the first valve or the second valve is in the closed position to obstruct a flow of a liquid while the other is in the open position. The apparatus also includes a reservoir fluidly coupled to the first valve and the second valve. Other systems, methods, and apparatuses are presented.
Medical/surgical waste collection portable rover capable of zero setting a float used to measure the volume of liquid in a waste container
A medical/surgical waste collection rover includes a first waste container disposed on a portable cart and receiving waste under the influence of a vacuum. A fluid measuring system includes a float element disposed within the first waste container, and a controller causing liquid in a reservoir disposed on the cart to prefill the first waste container and subject the float element to an initial lifting to a zero point level. The fluid measuring system determines a volume of contents within the first waste container based on a position of the float element relative to the zero point level. The fluid measuring system may include a sensor rod extending through the first waste container and a second waste container disposed on the cart and separated from the first waste container by a transfer valve. Methods of estimating the volume of liquid and/or medical/surgical waste within the waste container are also provided.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR MANAGING CHEST DRAINAGE
Disclosed is a chest drainage system which reduces or eliminates pooling of blood/liquid and/or clogging/clotting in the drainage tube and/or chest tube, and provides objective and accurate measures of drained fluid volume and chest air leak. The chest drainage system continuously monitors chest tube and drainage tube status and clears pooled liquid in the drainage tube, and/or a clogged chest tube when necessary to restore negative pressure to the chest.
Selectively moveable valve elements for aspiration and irrigation circuits
Various arrangements of fluidics systems are disclosed. In one arrangement, an aspiration circuit for a fluidics system is disclosed that selectively controls aspiration. The aspiration circuit comprises an aspiration line operatively connected to a surgical instrument, an aspiration exhaust line operatively connected to a waste receptacle; an aspiration vent line connected at a first end to the aspiration line; and a selectively variable vent valve operatively connected to the aspiration vent line. The variable vent valve may be selectively moved to vary aspiration pressure within the aspiration line. Other fluidics systems are disclosed that include a selectively positionable irrigation valve that may also be incorporated into a fluidics system that includes a variable vent valve.
METHODS OF TREATING INTRACEREBRAL HEMORRHAGES USING CYCLICAL ASPIRATION PATTERNS
An aspiration system includes a pump and a control system in communication with the pump. The control system includes a microcontroller, an antenna configured to receive a signal, and a pump control board in communication with the microcontroller. The antenna is in communication with the microcontroller. Upon receiving the signal, the pump control board operates the pump to create negative pressure according to the signal.
Aspiration thrombectomy system and methods for thrombus removal with aspiration catheter
A clot removal system comprises a catheter, a vacuum source, and a controller. The catheter comprises a proximal end, a distal end, and controller operating parameters and defines a lumen configured to be filled with a liquid column having a proximal portion. The vacuum source is configured to supply vacuum. The controller is configured to carry out a control pattern of turning on and off the vacuum based upon the controller operating parameters and is configured to receive the controller operating parameters in an automatic response to the catheter being operatively connected to at least one of the vacuum source and the controller and, responsive to the connection, to carry out the control pattern to change a level of vacuum at the distal end of the catheter.
