Flexible display panel and display device

A flexible display panel and a display device are provided. The display panel includes: a first display zone; a second display zone; and a non-display zone located between the first display zone and the second display zone. After the flexible display panel is bent along a folding axis extending along a first direction defined in the non-display zone, a light-emitting surface of the first display zone and a light-emitting surface of the second display zone face away from each other. The first display zone has a first hollow zone close to the non-display zone. The second display zone has a second hollow zone close to the non-display zone. By providing two mutually independent display zones on the same flexible substrate and providing a hollow portion on each display zone, a screen occupancy ratio of the two display zones will be high, and a “full screen” is realized.

The display may be configured to display an image that is a combination of light from the plurality of emissive surfaces, wherein each of the plurality of emissive surfaces renders an image that differs by at least one selected from the group consisting of: color resolution, fill-factor, viewing angle, and transparency. Embodiments also provide an augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), or mixed reality (MR) system having a plurality of displays that each rendering an image based on the provided light of a different color spectrum, and one or more waveguides through which the light from the displays is combined.

The first common electrode has a function of reflecting visible light. The second common electrode has a function of transmitting visible light. The second light-emitting element is positioned closer to the visible-light-transmitting region than the first light-emitting element. The second display region includes a portion overlapping with the second light-emitting element and a portion overlapping with the visible-light-transmitting region.

Stretchable display with fixed pixel density

The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods of forming an expandable display device capable of maintaining a fixed pixel density at any display area from a relatively smaller first display area to a relatively larger second display area. The expandable display device includes an upper display layer and a lower display layer. In a first display position, the display elements having a defined pixel density included in the upper display layer obscure the display elements included in the lower display layer. The upper display layer and lower display layers are disposed on expandable substrates capable of continuous displacement between the first and second display positions. In the second display position, the display elements included in the lower display layer are visible through gaps between the display elements included in the upper display layer. The resultant display provides a uniform pixel density at all displacements between the first and second display positions.
