PINCH VALVE MECHANISM

A pinch valve mechanism for use in a suction/irrigator device, wherein the device has a conduit for suction/irrigation. The pinch valve mechanism includes a first end having a first projection, a second end, operatively connected to the first end and a second projection. A spring means operatively connected to the second end, wherein the conduit is disposed between the first end and the second end such that the first projection and second projection are biased to pinch the conduit into a closed position. Compression of the spring means moves the first end away from the second end to move the conduit into an open position.

Nanoparticles are suspended in a fluid medium which is activated using an ultrasonic transducer in contact with the fluid medium. The fluid may be injected into a body cavity and ultrasonically activated to induce a cavitation effect. The body cavity may contain a natural or artificial hard surface, inflamed or with a biofilm harnessing bacteria, such as a bone, joint or implant, as well as the surrounding tissue. In an embodiment, a treatment device may be used before, during or after a procedure such as a minimally invasive or open surgery to disinfect the body cavity via irrigation with liquid containing suspended nanoparticles and ultrasonically activated. The irrigation device may supply the cavity with the liquid and include therein an ultrasonic transducer. The cleaning and disinfecting process may be performed as treatment of infection in absence of another surgical procedure.

A phacoemulsification system includes a phacoemulsification probe with a distal end for insertion into an eye of a patient, an irrigation pump, an aspiration pump, and a processor. The probe includes an irrigation channel, an aspiration channel, an irrigation sensor, and an aspiration sensor. The irrigation pump is configured to flow irrigation fluid to the irrigation channel. The aspiration pump is configured to evacuate material from the aspiration channel. The processor is configured to detect a clogging of the aspiration channel using the aspiration sensor, to estimate an intra-ocular pressure (IOP) of the eye using the irrigation sensor, to set a reflux pressure for the aspiration pump depending on the estimated IOP, and to repel the clogging by controlling the aspiration pump to apply the reflux pressure.

HAND ACTUATED SUCTION AND IRRIGATION DEVICE

A hand actuated suction and irrigation device enables the clinician to selectively provide suction or irrigation at a surgical site. In particular, the suction and irrigation device enables the clinician to control the amount of suction or irrigation provided at the surgical site through an ergonomically designed handle assembly. A clinician may selectively choose the suction or irrigation setting on the device by manipulating the first and second valve assemblies on opposing sides of a pump.

Nasal irrigation assembly and system

An assembly for nasal irrigation for the handheld irrigation of a user's nasal cavity comprising a housing with a refill chamber containing irrigating fluid, an applicator, an actuator for forcing irrigating fluid from the refill chamber through the applicator into the user's nasal cavity during operation, and a solution port for refilling the refill chamber. Some embodiments of the present invention may further comprise a system for nasal irrigation that includes the assembly for nasal irrigation or handheld irrigator, as well as a solution assembly structured for dispensing irrigating fluid to the handheld irrigator, a docking station for removably housing the handheld irrigator, a solution assembly and a refill control, including a check valve.
