Wound management
A method and apparatus are disclosed for delivering at least one agent to a wound site. The method includes the steps of providing a delivery tube having an outlet at a wound site, covering the wound site with a drape and introducing agent at an agent inlet port of the delivery tube. The agent passes along the delivery tube through the drape to the wound site. The agent can be a wide variety or mixture of fluids such as but not limited to pain relief medicament, anti-biotics, saline solution and/or hydrating fluid.
Silent effusion removal
A method is disclosed for clearing effusion from an ear. The method may include applying liquid to an ear canal, which is proximal to a perforated tympanic membrane, which is proximal to a middle ear containing effusion, applying an ear device to seal and pressurize the liquid inside the ear canal, the ear device regulating the amount of pressure inside the ear canal, and inducing a Eustachian tube, which is distal to the middle ear, to open, which causes the fluid to displace the effusion into the Eustachian tube.
Portable pump for negative pressure wound therapy
A portable pump is provided for negative pressure wound therapy for drawing a vacuum from a wound site via a tube. The pump includes an inlet configured to attach the tube from the wound site; a canister in fluid communication with the inlet for collecting fluids drained from the wound site; and a manually-actuated pump mechanism for creating the vacuum. The pump mechanism includes a vacuum chamber in fluid communication with the canister; a piston disposed in the vacuum chamber; and a pump handle coupled to the piston to move the piston in the vacuum chamber between first and second positions to create the vacuum. The pump handle moving between a retracted position and an extended position. The piston is in the first position when said pump handle is in the retracted position and is in the second position when said pump handle is in the extended position.
Two stage colostrum collection system
A colostrum collection system includes a breast cup, an intermediate reservoir, a syringe attached below the intermediate reservoir, and a vacuum pump drawing vacuum from the breast cup and syringe, through the intermediate reservoir. The vacuum pump maintains vacuum throughout a vacuum pump cycle, but varies the level of the vacuum between a low vacuum and a high vacuum. During high vacuum, the colostrum is drawn from the breast and into the intermediate reservoir, and air is drawn from the syringe creating reduced air pressure in the syringe. During low vacuum, the colostrum is drawn into the syringe by the reduced air pressure in the syringe.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR SOFT TISSUE BIOPSY AND TISSUE SAMPLE COLLECTION
A device comprises a syringe comprising a syringe body portion and a plunger portion configured to engage with and slide axially within the body portion; a tube set fitted to the syringe. The tube set may comprise a proximal tube attached to the plunger portion at a proximal end thereof and terminated, at a distal end thereof, by a beak assembly configured to assume a first configuration suitable for coring through tissue and a second configuration suitable for tissue penetration and parting off tissue; and a distal tube disposed over and coupled to the proximal tube to enable travel-limited axial displacement relative to the proximal tube. Axially moving the plunger portion of the plunger portion within the body portion of the syringe causes differential movement of the proximal tube relative to the distal tube to selectively cause the beak assembly to assume the first or the second configuration.
Tissue transfer method and apparatus
A system in accordance with embodiments of the present invention includes a permeable tissue collection vessel or filter element disposed within a collection container. Collected tissue is deposited within the filter element through an inlet. Fluid that passes through the filter element is withdrawn from the collection canister through an outlet. An access port can be provided in a lid of the collection container to facilitate the removal of collected tissue from the tissue collection vessel.
LIPOSUCTION DEVICE AND SYSTEM AND USE THEREOF
Embodiments of the present invention disclose a device for removing adipose tissue with a needle(s), comprising a needle hub that comprises at least one needle that contains between 1-1000 holes around the diameter of the needle barrel which allows passage of adipose tissue and other lipoaspirate, and an adipose tissue collection and purification device comprising a plurality of self contained syringes wherein each of the syringes comprises an inner syringe included within an outer syringe and wherein a filter is attached inside the outer syringe barrel, the filter having a mesh pore size between 30 micro meters and 1000 micro meters, the device being attached to a needle hub. The present invention furhter provides a system for closed adipose tissue harvesting, purficiation, and grafting, comrpising an adipose tissue removal component, a collection and purification component, and a grafting component. Methods of using the devices or system are also disclosed.
Syringe with ratcheting operating rod and lockable plunger head
A syringe for medical applications includes a syringe body having an inner wall, a first stop, located along the inner wall, to leave at least one first blank surface on the inner wall; and a plunger sliding along the inner wall of along a longitudinal axis of the syringe, the plunger including a plunger head and an operating rod, connected to the plunger head, including, on its outer surface, at least one first rack arranged longitudinally along the operating rod, the first rack including protruding teeth. The first stop and the protruding teeth are also shaped and constituted so as to prevent the plunger from lowering again due to pressure on the operating rod, unless the first rack is disengaged by rotating the plunger within the syringe body around the longitudinal axis so that the first rack faces the first blank surface of the inner wall of the syringe body.
DEVICE AND KIT FOR PREPARING TISSUE, PARTICULARLY ADIPOSE TISSUE, FOR TRANSPLANTATION FROM LOBULAR FAT EXTRACTED BY LIPOSUCTION
A device for preparing adipose tissue for transplantation from lobular fat extracted, for instance by liposuction, said fat consisting of a fluid component comprising an oily component, a blood component and/or sterile solutions and a solid component comprising cell fragments, cells and one or more cell macroagglomerates of heterogeneous size, comprising at least one washing and separating container (1) having a washing chamber (101) for washing the liposuctioned material, which container (1) has an inlet (102) and an outlet (103) for the liposuctioned material to enter the washing chamber (101) through the inlet (102) and for at least part of said material, particularly the fluid component, to exit said chamber (101) through the outlet (103), said washing chamber (101) including means for forming an emulsion of fluid components, by mechanical stirring.
METHOD FOR PREPARING TISSUE, PARTICULARLY ADIPOSE TISSUE, FOR TRANSPLANTATION FROM LOBULAR FAT EXTRACTED BY LIPOSUCTION
A method of preparing adipose tissue for transplantation, from lobular fat extracted, for instance, by liposuction, said fat consisting of a fluid component comprising an oily component, a blood component and/or sterile solutions and of a solid component comprising cell fragments, cells and one or more cell macroagglomerates of heterogeneous size, characterized in that it includes at least one step of washing the cell aggregates carried out at the same time as a step of separating the fluid component, in emulsion form, from the solid component.
