A medical device for use with an associated tube inserted into an incision formed in skin or tissue of a patient includes a dressing including an opening sized to receive and allow movement of the associated tube. A valve is operatively connected with the opening of the dressing and includes a main body; and an opening formed in a portion of the main body. The opening is sized and dimensioned to accommodate the surgical tube.

WOUND TREATMENT APPARATUSES AND METHODS WITH NEGATIVE PRESSURE SOURCE INTEGRATED INTO WOUND DRESSING

Disclosed embodiments relate to apparatuses and methods for wound treatment. In some embodiments, a negative pressure source is incorporated into a wound dressing apparatus so that the wound dressing and the negative pressure source are part of an integral or integrated wound dressing structure that applies the wound dressing and the negative pressure source simultaneously to a patient's wound. The negative pressure source and/or electronic components may be positioned between a wound contact layer and a cover layer of the wound dressing. The negative pressure source and/or electronic components may be separated and/or partitioned from an absorbent area of the dressing. A switch may be integrated with the wound dressing to control operation of the wound dressing apparatus. A connector may be direct air from an outlet of the negative pressure source to the environment. A non-return valve may inhibit back flow of air into the wound dressing.

A barrier for use in negative pressure wound therapy can include a base layer and surface structures. The barrier can be used to reduce or prevent tissue ingrowth. A method of using a negative pressure wound therapy system can include positioning a perforated barrier in a wound. After positioning the perforated barrier in the wound, positioning a pad in the wound on top of the perforated barrier, positioning a seal on top of the wound to at least partially seal the perforated barrier and the foam in the wound, and applying negative pressure wound therapy to the wound.

DRESSING FOR NEGATIVE PRESSURE WOUND THERAPY WITH FILTER

Disclosed herein are several embodiments of a wound treatment apparatus employing a wound dressing for negative pressure wound therapy and methods of using the same. Some embodiments are directed to improved wound dressing to be applied to a wound site, for example a wound dressing including a three-dimensional filter element, and methods of using the same.

The present invention relates to apparatuses and methods for treating a wound by applying reduced or negative pressure to the wound. The apparatus can include a wound cover, a fluid collection container, a vacuum pump, an inflation pump, and one or more conduits. The wound cover can be configured to move between at least a relatively rigid, generally raised position and a relatively flexible, generally collapsed position according to a predetermined program or in response to input from a user or one or more sensors. In some embodiments, the wound cover can be configured to move between at least the relatively rigid, generally raised position and the relatively flexible, generally collapsed position by adjusting the air pressure in one or more channels in the wound cover or by adjusting the length of piezoelectric or other length changing material supported by the wound cover.

Wound care arrangement and covering unit therefor

The invention relates to a wound care arrangement comprising a covering unit that can be fixed on the skin surrounding a wound and that serves for producing a closed wound space comprising the wound, and a suction connection via which a vacuum can be produced in the wound space, wherein the covering unit is penneable to water vapor at least in sections.

MULTIPLE DRESSING NEGATIVE PRESSURE WOUND THERAPY SYSTEM WITH CALIBRATED LEAK PATHS

Embodiments of apparatuses and methods for providing negative pressure wound therapy to multiple wounds are disclosed. In some embodiments, an apparatus includes a negative pressure source configured to couple via a plurality of fluid flow paths to a plurality of wound dressings. The plurality of flow paths includes a plurality of calibrated leaks. The apparatus also includes a controller configured to determine a total rate of flow in the plurality of fluid flow paths and compare the total rate of flow to a plurality of thresholds associated with the plurality of calibrated leaks to determine one or more operating conditions, such as a blockage in one or more of the plurality of flow paths. An indication of the operating condition can be provided.

PH SENSING FOR SENSOR ENABLED NEGATIVE PRESSURE WOUND MONITORING AND THERAPY APPARATUSES

Embodiments of apparatuses, systems, methods for monitoring wound pH are disclosed. In some embodiments, a wound dressing includes one or more optical sensors configured to measure a change in color of a pH-sensitive adhesive that changes color in response to changes in wound exudate pH. In some embodiments, the wound dressing may further comprise hydrophilic channels that direct wound exudate to a pH-sensitive material over the optical sensors. Such dressings may also be used in combination with a negative pressure wound therapy system.

NPWT system with selectively controllable airflow

An assembly includes a drape substantially sealable over a wound bed and a trackpad configured to couple a tube to the drape and allow the tube to provide suction to the wound bed. The assembly also includes a vent opening in the drape, a filter coupled to the drape and communicating with the vent opening, a cover coupled to the drape and movable between a first position to cover the vent opening and filter and a second position to uncover the vent opening and the filter, and a fluid indicator coupled to the drape and operable to provide a visual indication that fluid build-up is present in the wound bed.
