Flexible negative pressure system
Connectors and devices for flexible negative pressure systems are described.
Ph sensing for sensor enabled negative pressure wound monitoring and therapy apparatuses
Embodiments of apparatuses, systems, methods for monitoring wound pH are disclosed. In some embodiments, a wound dressing includes one or more optical sensors configured to measure a change in color of a pH-sensitive adhesive that changes color in response to changes in wound exudate pH. In some embodiments, the wound dressing may further comprise hydrophilic channels that direct wound exudate to a pH-sensitive material over the optical sensors. Such dressings may also be used in combination with a negative pressure wound therapy system.
NEGATIVE PRESSURE WOUND THERAPY APPARATUS
Disclosed embodiments relate to apparatuses and methods for wound treatment. In certain embodiments, a negative pressure wound therapy apparatus can include a wound dressing with a spacer layer separated from the absorbent layer by intermediate layers or drapes. The wound dressing can include a first portion comprising a wound contact or tissue contact layer, a first spacer layer, and a first backing layer comprising a first aperture. The spacer layer can be positioned between the contact layer and the first backing layer. The dressing can have a second portion comprising an intermediate drape with a second aperture, an absorbent layer, and a second backing layer. The absorbent layer is positioned between the intermediate drape and the second backing layer. The first aperture and the second aperture are configured to be sealed and allow fluid communication between the first portion and the second portion of the wound dressing.
Gel-Blocking Connection Assembly For Absorbent Negative Pressure Dressing
A dressing includes a manifold layer and a drape coupled to the manifold layer and configured to seal the manifold layer over a wound. The drape has an opening extending therethrough. A connection pad is positioned at the opening and configured to couple the dressing to a tube. The connection pad includes an outer ring coupled to the drape and a center dimple extending away from the drape and defining a volume between the center dimple and a plane defined by the outer ring. The dressing also includes an absorbent manifolding structure positioned between the center dimple and the manifold layer and formed to substantially match a shape of the volume.
POST-OPERATIVE SURGICAL SITE WOUND TREATMENT AND METHOD FOR DEVICE REMOVAL
A device and method for treatment of post-operative surgical site wounds. The device includes a housing, a spool configured to rotate relative to the housing, and a catheter coupled to the spool. Rotating the spool in one direction winds the catheter about a column disposed on the spool, and enables the catheter to be retracted from the closed wound. In some embodiments, the device further includes a wound dressing disposed about a distal end of the catheter. In some embodiments, retracting the catheter from a closed wound enables a wound dressing to be retracted from the closed wound.
APPARATUSES AND METHODS FOR DETECTING LEAKS IN A NEGATIVE PRESSURE WOUND THERAPY SYSTEM
Leak location devices and methods of using leak location devices that can be used in conjunction with negative pressure wound therapy systems are disclosed. In some embodiments, a leak location device can include a microphone for detecting sound pressure produced by a leak. Detected sound pressure can be compared to a threshold, which can correspond to background or ambient sound pressure. Background or ambient sound pressure can correspond to sound produced by a negative pressure source. The leak detection device can include a display configured to visually depict the detected sound, and a light source which creates a visual depiction of the coverage angle of the microphone.
SYSTEM FOR PROVIDING WOUND DRESSING PORT AND ASSOCIATED WOUND DRESSING
A wound dressing for use in a vacuum wound therapy treatment includes a backing layer for positioning over a wound to define a reservoir in which a reduced pressure may be maintained over the wound. A portal member affixed to the backing layer provides a connection to a reduced pressure source through an opening in an ambient surface. A primary port extends between the opening and a primary aperture in a reservoir surface to providing fluid communication between the reservoir and the reduced pressure source. At least one supplemental port establishes fluid communication between the primary port and a supplemental aperture in the reservoir surface that is distinct and substantially spaced from the primary aperture.
Wound based sensor system with ambient atmosphere monitoring
Systems, apparatuses, and methods for providing negative pressure and/or instillation fluids to a tissue site are disclosed. Some embodiments are illustrative of an apparatus or system for delivering negative-pressure and/or therapeutic solution of fluids to a tissue site, which can be used in conjunction with sensing properties of fluids extracted from a tissue site and/or instilled at a tissue site. For example, an apparatus may comprise a dressing interface or connector that includes a pH sensor, a humidity sensor, a temperature sensor and/or a pressure sensor embodied on a single pad within the connector and proximate the tissue site to provide data indicative of acidity, humidity, temperature and pressure. Such apparatus may further comprise an ambient port for providing the pressure sensor and the humidity sensor with access to the ambient environment providing readings relative to the atmospheric pressure and humidity.
Multiple dressing negative pressure wound therapy system with calibrated leak paths
In some embodiments, an apparatus for providing negative pressure wound therapy to multiple wounds includes a negative pressure source configured to couple via a plurality of fluid flow paths to a plurality of wound dressings. The plurality of flow paths includes a plurality of calibrated leaks. The apparatus also includes a controller configured to determine a total rate of flow in the plurality of fluid flow paths and compare the total rate of flow to a plurality of thresholds associated with the plurality of calibrated leaks to determine one or more operating conditions, such as a blockage in one or more of the plurality of flow paths. An indication of the operating condition can be provided.
Negative pressure wound therapy apparatuses and methods for using the same
Embodiments of negative pressure wound therapy systems, apparatuses, and methods for operating the systems and apparatuses are disclosed. In some embodiments, a medical device is configured to detect an identity of a patient-contacting disposable connected to the medical device. The medical device automatically modifies one or more operational parameters of the medical device based on the identity of the patient-contacting disposable connected to the medical device. The medical device can include a user interface and modify automatically available selections in the user interface based on the identity of the patient-contacting disposable connected to the medical device.
