PROTECTIVE DEVICE FOR PROTECTING A USER' S HEAD AND NECK AREA AGAINST AN IMMINENT IMPACT
The present invention comprises a helmet (1) intended to surround the skull of a user (10); wherein the helmet (1) comprises a storage chamber (14) in a rear portion of the helmet (1), and which contains a pressurized gas; an activation mechanism to expand the expandable gas; at least one sensor (5), to detect an imminent accident; a bag (13) housed in the back of the helmet (1), connected to the compressed gas; and a control device (3), for inflating the bag (13) with the expanded pressurized gas moments before an accident detected by the sensor or sensors (5); wherein the bag (13), once inflated (2), emerges from the rear portion of the helmet (1), intended to protect the lateral area of the neck, the cervical area and the base of the skull.
HELMET CARRYING A CAMERA
A helmet (1) for carrying audio-visual equipment includes a brace member (18) having first and second ends (20, 22). The brace member passes in a spaced apart relationship from the left side of the head to the right side of the head of a wearer in use, until connecting at each end (20, 22) to a respective left or right side of the helmet (1). A boom (24) has a first boom end and a second boom end, the boom connecting at the first boom end to one of the first and second ends (20, 22) of the brace member (18). The boom includes a mounting for carrying at least one camera in a position near the head of a wearer. A method of capturing image data from a face and a power supply system for portable equipment are disclosed.
AIRSPEED SENSOR, SYSTEM AND AIRSPEED MONITORING PROCESS DIGITALLY IMPLEMENTED THEREBY OR IN RELATION THERETO
Described are various embodiments of an air-speed sensor, system and airspeed monitoring process digitally implemented thereby or in relation thereto. In one such embodiment, a sensor comprises a sensor casing having a leading surface and having plural distinctly oriented input ports defined therein to capture a respective air pressure at each one thereof; respective pressure sensors disposed within said casing in fluid communication with respective ones of said input ports to sense said respective air pressure for each one thereof; and a digital processor operatively coupled to each of said pressure sensors to digitally compute respective pressure ratios between said input ports and compare said ratios against designated pressure ratios corresponding to designated incident airspeed angles of incidence to output an airspeed incident angle and airspeed accordingly.
Mounting rail for attaching accessories to a safety helmet
A hinge mechanism for attaching ear accessories to a helmet allows an accessory to be attached at a point outside the helmet shell utilizing, for example, a slidable mounting rail, and to reach under the edge of the helmet shell so that the accessory is supported in contact with the wearer's head. The hinge mechanism is well suited for use in connection with military helmets that have a “bulge” or protrusion over the ear.

Time trial bicycle helmet with ear shield
A helmet can include a helmet body and a shield. The helmet body can include a front portion and a tail portion, and the shield can include two ear portions connected by a brow portion. The shield can be releasably coupled to the helmet body. The ears of a helmet user can be exposed with respect to the helmet body and covered with respect to the shield. The brow portion of the shield can extend across the front portion of the helmet. The tail portion of the helmet can be tapered and the front portion of the helmet can have a rounded leading edge, such that the helmet body has a tear drop form factor.
Head-mounted display with modular components
A head-mounted display that is modular and configured for securement to an item of headwear is provided. The head-mounted display may comprise a selection of components that are desired for a particular application, such as a display boom, camera, microphone, position-tracking component, etc., and may include an attachment mechanism for securing the selection of components to the item of headwear. The head-mounted display may include a display module having a corresponding display characteristic that provides a visual display and/or display functionality that is appropriate for a particular application. The display module may include a micro display that is non-transparent and/or a waveguide optic that is at least partially transparent, and may be configured to provide an augmented reality display for a user.

Connection device for releasably connecting two assemblies
A connecting apparatus detachably connects two assemblies. The connecting apparatus includes a fastener module securable to a first of the assemblies and including a negative-pressure element, and an attachment component of a second of the assemblies. The negative-pressure element is connectable in an attachment direction to the attachment component for connecting the assemblies with one another, wherein, in a connected position, the negative-pressure element interacts with the attachment component such that, in the event of a load acting in between the fastener module and the attachment component opposite to the attachment direction, the negative-pressure element and the attachment component are held against one another by a negative pressure acting between the negative-pressure element and the attachment component. The fastener module includes an adjustment element which is adjustable relative to the negative-pressure element and which is movable relative to the negative-pressure element.
