A wound therapy system includes a dressing sealable over a wound and defining a wound space between the dressing and the wound, tubing fluidly communicable with the wound space, and a canister fluidly communicable with the tubing. The canister, the tubing, and the dressing define a sealed space that includes the wound space. The wound therapy system also includes a therapy unit coupled to the canister. The therapy unit includes a sensor configured to measure a pressure in the sealed space, a valve positioned between the sealed space and a surrounding environment and controllable between an open position and a closed position, and a control circuit. The control circuit is configured to control the valve to alternate between the open position and the closed position to allow airflow through the valve, receive measurements from the sensor, and determine a volume of the wound space based on the measurements.

Device and method for wound therapy

A wound therapy device is disclosed. The wound therapy device may include a housing for covering at least a portion of a wound and for sealing to a body surface of a patient. The housing may also include a liquid collector for retaining liquid therein and a vacuum connection for coupling to a vacuum source. The vacuum connection may be in gaseous communication with the liquid collector. The vacuum connection may be separated from the liquid collector by a liquid barrier.

The present disclosure relates to a connector device for a negative pressure wound therapy system having a connector housing, a fluid outlet connected to the connector housing, an air feeding port and an air filter and coupling means. The fluid outlet is adapted to be connected to a negative pressure source. The connector device is adapted to be engaged with a wound side connector of a wound side assembly by means of the coupling means. The wound side assembly includes a fluid removing conduit and an air supplying conduit, wherein a portion of each one of the fluid removing conduit and the air supplying conduit is connected to the wound side connector. The connector device when engaged with the wound side connector, the fluid removing conduit is fluidly connected to the fluid outlet and the air supplying conduit is fluidly connected to the air feeding port such that air ambient of the connector device can be fed to the air supplying conduit via the air feeding port and the air filter.

A wound therapy apparatus is disclosed that includes a wound interface securable to a skin surface around a wound bed to form an enclosed space over the wound bed that is fluid-tight. The wound therapy apparatus may include a dressing engaged with the wound interface to contact the wound bed. A spacer may be disposed within the enclosed space proximal of the dressing to define a plenum between portions of the wound interface and a proximal side of the dressing. Gas within the enclosed space may have an O.sub.2 concentration greater than the O.sub.2 concentration in atmospheric air. The dressing may include a hydrophobic material, a hydrophilic material, or a distal layer comprised of silicone having fenestrations therein, in various aspects. The pressure p.sub.0 within the enclosed space may vary over a pressure range P.sub.min≤P.sub.0≤P.sub.max. Related methods of use are also disclosed.

Chemical pump housing for negative pressure system

A chemical pump assembly useful for negative pressure therapy includes a chemical pump housing having an inner chamber, a reactor located within the inner chamber, an opening provided in the chemical pump housing, a first pull tab which extends from the inner chamber to ambient through the opening, and a removable layer connected to the first pull tab. The reactor is configured to react with a selected gas found in air so as to consume the selected gas when exposed to air in the inner chamber. The removable layer shields the reactor from air in the inner chamber atmosphere until the removable layer is removed.

WOUND THERAPY DEVICE AND METHOD

A wound therapy device and method includes a skin contacting element, a reactor, and a reactor housing element. The skin contacting element is configured for covering an associated tissue site, the reactor for creating a pressure condition at the associated tissue site upon actuation thereof, and the reactor housing element for accommodating the reactor. The skin contacting element has a skin contacting side and an interface side, which is opposite the skin contacting side. The reactor housing element has a lower affixing side and an upper side, which is opposite the lower affixing side.
