Power umbilical and method
Power umbilical (1) comprising a plurality of power cables (7) for electric power transmission, elongated filler elements (5), and an outer sheath (3). The elongated filler elements (5) abut against each other at abutment faces (5a), thereby forming a complete ring enclosing the power cables (7). The elongated filler elements (5) comprise cable recesses (5b) within which the power cables (7) are embedded. The power umbilical (1) further comprises one or more friction control profiles (13, 15, 116), wherein the material of the friction control profile (13, 15, 116) is softer than the material of the elongated filler elements (5). The one or more friction control profiles (13, 15) are arranged in a deformed state.
HYBRID CABLE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD
A hybrid cable applicable in oil wells is disclosed, comprising a FIMT, a conductor layer formed by continuous laser welding and cylindrically covered the outer surface of the FIMT, the outer cylindrical surface of the conductor layer being covered with a high temperature resistant insulating layer by a continuous extrusion method or by wrapped helically with insulating tapes around the outer surface of the conductor layer and the external steel tube cylindrically covered the outer surface of the insulating layer. The conductor layer is coaxial with the FIMT, the inner space of the hybrid cable to accommodating excess length of the optical fiber for thermal expansions or the tensile stress of the optical cable. The thickness of the insulating layer cylindrically covered the outer surface of the conductor layer can be increased, thereby improving the insulating property. A method of manufacturing such hybrid cable is disclosed.

GAS RESISTANT POTHEAD SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ELECTRIC SUBMERSIBLE MOTORS
A gas resistant pothead system and method for electric submersible motors. A gas resistant pothead system includes a lead foil wrapped motor lead cable (MLE) extending through a pothead, a sleeve of an insulator block inside the pothead, the sleeve including gold plating and lead-foil wrapping over the gold plating, and a lead-to-gold seal formed between the gold plating of the sleeve and the lead foil wrapping over the gold plating. A method of creating a seal to gas around a power cable connection to a downhole electric submersible motor includes wrapping lead foil around a MLE extending through a pothead, continuing the lead foil wrapping around a gold-plated sleeve of an insulating block inside the pothead, mechanically reinforcing the lead foil with an encapsulant, and bonding the lead foil to the gold plating of the insulating block.
Wireline Cable For Use With Downhole Tractor Assemblies
A wireline cable includes an electrically conductive cable core for transmitting electrical power, an inner armor layer disposed around the cable core, and an outer armor layer disposed around the inner armor layer, wherein a torque on the cable is balanced by providing the outer armor layer with a predetermined amount of coverage less than an entire circumference of the inner armor layer, or by providing the outer armor layer and the inner armor layer with a substantially zero lay angle.
DOWNHOLE LOGGING CABLES WITH CORE CONDUCTOR AND OPTICAL UNITS
A downhole logging cable includes a core conductor unit and a core optical unit. The core conductor unit may include a conductor and a jacket which surrounds and contacts the conductor. At least one metal tube may surround the core conductor unit and core optical unit, such that the core conductor unit and core optical unit are disposed in an interior of the at least one metal tube. A filler may be provided in the interior surrounding the core conductor unit and core optical unit.

Concentric wireline cable
A wireline system includes a control system, a downhole tool, and a wireline cable coupling the downhole tool and the control system. The wireline cable includes a plurality of conductors, which includes a core conductor and a concentric conductor disposed around the core conductor, wherein two of the plurality of conductors form a conductor pair, and wherein each of the plurality of conductors is configured to transmit power, data, or both, between the control system and the downhole tool. The wireline cable further includes one or more insulative layers, wherein at least one insulative layer is disposed between any two conductors.
Pin aligning crimping fixture
A splice fixture for holding and crimping a plurality of power pins to a conductor of a submersible pump cable for an electrical connection in a well head. The splice fixture permits the use of standard crimping pliers to crimp the ends of a heavy gauge multi-conductor cables typically used for electric submersible pump (ESP) cables to the power pin for connection to an electrical power source external to the well head.
ARMORED SUBMERSIBLE POWER CABLE
A method can include extruding polyethylene about a lead (Pb) barrier layer disposed about a conductor to form an assembly; and armoring at least one of the assemblies with metallic armor to form a cable. A power cable can include a conductor; a lead (Pb) barrier layer disposed about the conductor; a cushion layer disposed about the lead (Pb) barrier layer where the cushion layer includes crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE); and metallic armor wrapped about the cushion layer.
