Electrical Cable for Vertical Applications
Disclosed is an electrical cable for vertical applications, comprising a core having a length L, a sheath surrounding the core and extending through the whole length L and a reinforcing jacket surrounding the sheath and in direct contact therewith. The reinforcing jacket is made of concentric layers comprising a first layer longitudinally extending from a first cable end (the proximal or upper cable end, in use) towards a second cable end (the distal or lower cable end, in use) substantially along the whole length L. The reinforcing jacket also comprises at least one further layer longitudinally extending from the first cable end towards the second cable end for a length shorter than L. At least one layer of the reinforcing jacket is a circumferentially closed metal tube. Also disclosed is a process for manufacturing such cable.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR BALANCING UNBALANCED POWER CABLES
Systems and methods may include balancing an unbalanced power cable using a transformer that has one or more phases by selecting a voltage on a tap handle; disposing a first bushing on one or more phases at a different voltage than the selected voltage; and balancing the unbalanced power cable based on the disposition of the first bushing on the one or more phases at the different voltage.
Power and communications cable for coiled tubing operations
A power and communications cable may include an electromagnetic waveguide, an inner metallic tubular surrounding the electromagnetic waveguide, an electrically conductive material surrounding the inner metallic tubular, an electrically insulating material surrounding the electrically conductive material, and an outer metallic tubular resistant to corrosion and abrasion surrounding the electrically insulating layer. The example system may include an electrical device locatable in the wellbore and coupleable to the cable and a control unit coupleable to the cable and operable to supply power to and communicate with the electrical device via the power and communications cable.
Composite slickline communication
A communication system, comprises a composite slickline including an electrical conductor surrounded by an electrically insulating structural material, a downhole tool; and a sensing element. The composite slickline is mechanically and electrically coupled to the downhole tool and extends from the downhole tool to the sensing element. The composite slickline and the sensing element are capacitively coupled so as to permit relative movement therebetween and so as to permit an electric field to extend from the electrical conductor of the composite slickline to the sensing element through the electrically insulating structural material of the composite slickline for the transmission of an electrical and/or an electromagnetic signal between the downhole tool and the sensing element via the composite slickline.
Self-retractable coiled electrical cable
A self-retracting coiled cable having a variable length along a center line can include an outer insulator sleeve having a longitudinal axis. The self-retracting coiled cable can also include a spring material extending along the longitudinal axis of the outer insulator sleeve. The spring material can hold the outer insulator sleeve in a helical shape around the center line. The spring material can also allow the self-retracting coiled cable to expand upon an application of an axial force to an end of the self-retracting coiled cable, thereby increasing a length of the self-retracting coiled cable, and to retract upon a removal of the axial force from the end of the self-retracting coiled cable, thereby reducing the length of the self-retracting coiled cable. The self-retracting coiled cable can further include multiple wires extending along the longitudinal axis of the outer insulator sleeve and disposed symmetrically around the spring material.
