Dressing and method for applying reduced pressure to and collecting and storing fluid from a tissue site

A reduced pressure dressing for applying reduced pressure treatment to a tissue site includes an interface layer adapted to be positioned at the tissue site. An absorbent layer is in fluid communication with the interface layer to absorb liquid from at least one of the interface layer and the tissue site. A pump is in fluid communication with the absorbent layer to deliver a reduced pressure to the tissue site. A cover is positioned over the pump, the absorbent layer, and the interface layer to maintain the reduced pressure at the tissue site, and a liquid-air separator is positioned between the absorbent layer and the pump to inhibit liquid from entering the pump.

Wound-connection pads for fluid instillation and negative pressure wound therapy, and systems and methods

Connection pads for coupling fluid-instillation and negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) apparatuses to wound dressing, and methods and wound dressings for breaching a drape after coupling a wound dressing to a fluid-instillation and/or NPWT apparatus.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR APPLYING REDUCED NEGATIVE PRESSURE THERAPY

Embodiments of a negative pressure wound therapy systems and methods for operating the systems are disclosed. In some embodiments, a system includes a pump assembly, canister, and a wound dressing configured to be positioned over a wound. The pump assembly, canister, and the wound dressing can be fluidically connected to facilitate delivery of negative pressure to a wound. The system can be configured to efficiently deliver negative pressure in continuous and intermittent modes. The system can also be configured to gradually ramp up and down to set pressure values. The system can also be configured to detect and indicate presence of certain conditions, such as low pressure, high pressure, leak, canister full, and the like. Detection and indication of the presence of at least some of these conditions can be enabled and disabled.

Methods and apparatuses are disclosed for applying negative pressure to a wound site. In some embodiments, the apparatus comprises a source of negative pressure, a processing element, and a memory comprising instructions configured to, when executed on the processing element, cause the apparatus to attempt to generate, via the source of negative pressure, a desired negative pressure at the wound site. If the desired negative pressure has not been generated after a first predetermined period of time, the instructions cause the apparatus to: deactivate the source of negative pressure for a second predetermined period of time, and subsequently attempt to generate the desired negative pressure at the wound site.

WOUND THERAPY DEVICE PRESSURE MONITORING AND CONTROL SYSTEM

A new system for negative pressure wound therapy is described. The system includes a patient tube set connecting the wound dressing to the suction container. The patient tube set provides separate channels for applying suction to the wound site and sensing the therapeutic pressure at the wound site. A restrictor valve may also be included in order to introduce a small air leak into the system to prevent occlusions in the patient tube set.

DRESSING PROVIDING APERTURES WITH MULTIPLE ORIFICE SIZES FOR NEGATIVE-PRESSURE THERAPY

In one example embodiment, an apparatus for treating a tissue site may include a contact layer formed from a compressible material. The contact layer may include a plurality of apertures extending at least partially through the contact layer. The contact layer may be configurable such that at least a portion of the apertures include a first plurality of orifices having a diameter in a first diameter range and such that at least a portion of the apertures include a second plurality of orifices having a diameter in a second diameter range. The first diameter range may be from about 2 mm to about 6 mm. The second diameter range may be from about 8 mm to about 15 mm. The apparatus may include a cover configured to form a sealed space including the contact layer and the tissue site.
