A portable negative pressure wound therapy device adapted to be carried by a user, comprising an electrically actuated suction pump for draining wound fluids from a patient, at least one microelectronic controller, at least one electronic memory and a housing for containing the electrical and/or electronic components. The device further comprises at least one microelectronic impact sensor, wherein the impact sensor is adapted to detect an impact acting on the device.

PORTABLE MEDICAL DEVICE

A portable medical device adapted to be carried by a user, comprising at least one electrically actuated means for performing a therapeutic and/or a diagnostic function on a patient, at least one mobile electric power supply, a control unit having at least one microelectronic controller, at least one electronic memory and at least one multi-channel impact sensor unit. The impact sensor unit is adapted to simultaneously detect linear acceleration along the three space axes and angular rates around the three space axes. The impact sensor unit generates impact sensor data sets, which are electronically transferred to the microelectronic controller via an interface. The device further comprises a housing, in which the electric components of the device are contained. The device is adapted to execute a classification algorithm, which allows to discriminate a first impact sensor data set, said first impact data set being correlated to a first impact event which is detrimental for the device, from a second impact sensor data set, said second impact data set being correlated to a second impact event which is not detrimental for the device.

Wound management

A method and apparatus are disclosed for delivering at least one agent to a wound site. The method includes the steps of providing a delivery tube having an outlet at a wound site, covering the wound site with a drape and introducing agent at an agent inlet port of the delivery tube. The agent passes along the delivery tube through the drape to the wound site. The agent can be a wide variety or mixture of fluids such as but not limited to pain relief medicament, anti-biotics, saline solution and/or hydrating fluid.

Some embodiments disclosed herein are directed to a pump assembly comprising a voice coil, a magnet and a diaphragm, wherein the voice coil is configured to move the diaphragm to pump a fluid through the pump assembly in response to a drive signal applied to the voice coil. Some embodiments disclosed herein are directed to an apparatus for applying negative pressure to a wound comprising a source of negative pressure configured to be coupled to a dressing, the source of negative comprising a voice coil actuator and a diaphragm, and a controller configured to produce a drive signal for the voice coil actuator.

The disposable canister is designed to partially enclose the vacuum pump, which is inserted into the canister, and to thereby fix it against movements in non-inserting directions. Portable pump for negative pressure wound therapy

A portable pump is provided for negative pressure wound therapy for drawing a vacuum from a wound site via a tube. The pump includes an inlet configured to attach the tube from the wound site; a canister in fluid communication with the inlet for collecting fluids drained from the wound site; and a manually-actuated pump mechanism for creating the vacuum. The pump mechanism includes a vacuum chamber in fluid communication with the canister; a piston disposed in the vacuum chamber; and a pump handle coupled to the piston to move the piston in the vacuum chamber between first and second positions to create the vacuum. The pump handle moving between a retracted position and an extended position. The piston is in the first position when said pump handle is in the retracted position and is in the second position when said pump handle is in the extended position.

The fluid collection container has a first side wall and at least one further side wall which together delimit at least one interior space for receiving the aspirated fluid. The at least one filling level sensor extends at least approximately parallel to the first side wall over at least a partial area of the fillable height of the interior space. The first side wall is place at least in part, and the cross section of the at least one interior space tapers vertically from the top downwards, at least over a partial area of the fillable height.

The portable subatmospheric pressure mechanism includes a housing, a subatmospheric pressure source disposed within the housing and in fluid communication with the wound dressing to supply subatmospheric pressure to the wound dressing and a power source mounted to or within the housing for supplying power to actuate the subatmospheric pressure source.
