SURGICAL DRAIN SYSTEM AND METHOD OF USE
20210393867 · 2021-12-23 ·

A surgical drain system for use during and following surgery is provided. A collection reservoir is placed in fluid communication with the body of a user through a collection port. A pump creates a vacuum pressure to urge fluid into the collection reservoir. Fluid exits the collection reservoir through a drain port. A drain mechanism allows air to come into the collection reservoir through an air intake aperture and collected fluid to leave the reservoir simultaneously. The drain system can be worn beneath clothes.

NEGATIVE PRESSURE WOUND THERAPY DEVICE STATUS INDICATION USING A CANISTER
20210386925 · 2021-12-16 ·

Disclosed systems and methods relate to status indication using a canister of negative pressure wound therapy apparatus. A method of providing a visual indication to a user of a negative pressure wound therapy apparatus can include, by a controller of the negative pressure wound therapy apparatus, determining a plurality of conditions associated with provision of negative pressure wound therapy by a negative pressure source of the negative pressure wound therapy apparatus and causing provision of a plurality of visual indications associated with the plurality of conditions to a user and, by at least one light pipe, transmitting light associated with at least one visual indication of the plurality of visual indications through at least a portion of an interior volume of a canister of the negative pressure wound therapy apparatus.

CHEMICAL PUMP HOUSING FOR NEGATIVE PRESSURE SYSTEM

A chemical pump assembly useful for negative pressure therapy includes a chemical pump housing having an inner chamber, a reactor located within the inner chamber, an opening provided in the chemical pump housing, a first pull tab which extends from the inner chamber to ambient through the opening, and a removable layer connected to the first pull tab. The reactor is configured to react with a selected gas found in air so as to consume the selected gas when exposed to air in the inner chamber. The removable layer shields the reactor from air in the inner chamber atmosphere until the removable layer is removed.

DATA RECORDER IN WOUND THERAPY SYSTEMS
20220203015 · 2022-06-30 ·

Embodiments of negative pressure wound therapy systems and methods for operating the systems are disclosed. In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a first housing, a pressure source, a first controller, a second housing, a sensor, and a second controller. The pressure source can be supported by the first housing and couple via a fluid flow path to a wound dressing positioned on a wound and provide negative pressure to the wound. The first controller configured to operate the pressure source. The second housing can be supported by the first housing. The sensor can be within the second housing and generate sensor data usable to troubleshoot an error condition associated with performance of pressure therapy with the first controller. The second controller can be within the second housing and the sensor data to a memory device.

Wound Therapy System With Humidifier
20220203016 · 2022-06-30 · ·

A wound therapy device includes a wound dressing and a humidifier configured to deliver humid air to a wound site to which the wound dressing is applied. The humidifier may be a remote structure that is fluidly connected to the wound dressing applied about a patient's skin at a wound site. Alternatively, the humidified may be integrated with the wound dressing to define an integral, portable therapy device that may be worn by the patient. The wound therapy device may be a standalone wound treatment device, or may be used in conjunction with other wound treatment devices, such as, e.g., negative pressure wound therapy devices.

Construction and protection of components in negative pressure wound therapy systems

Embodiments of negative pressure wound therapy systems and methods are disclosed. In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a housing, a negative pressure source, a canister, an antenna, and one or more controllers. The negative pressure source can provide negative pressure via a fluid flow path to a wound dressing. The canister can be positioned in the fluid flow path and collect fluid removed from the wound dressing. The antenna can be supported by the housing and wirelessly communicate with an electronic device. The antenna can be oriented in the housing to face downward toward the ground when the negative pressure source is providing negative pressure. The one or more controllers can activate and deactivate the negative pressure source and transmit first data to the electronic device using the antenna or receive second data from the electronic device using the antenna.

Leech therapy device
11357608 · 2022-06-14 ·

A leech therapy device adapted to latch a medicinal leech to a predetermined wound site is provided. The leech therapy device includes a conduit extending between a first end to a second end; an inner diameter of the conduit dimensioned to receive a medicinal leech, the inner diameter being less than twice a girth of the medicinal leech; and a cutout provided in the conduit closer to the first end than the second end; the cutout extending over a surface area between 100 and 150 squared millimeters. Wherein a user places a medicinal leech into the inner diameter, wherein a head of the medicinal leech is adjacent to the cutout, and then the user selectively positions said leech therapy device so that the cutout substantially circumscribed the wound site so that the medicinal leech can engage the wound site.

Surgical drain system and container

A portable drain system having a subdermal drain and a container in fluid communication with the subdermal drain is disclosed. The subdermal drain is configured to drain fluid from a surgical site. The container provides a negative pressure to the subdermal drain. The container draws and receives the fluid. The container includes at least one sensor in which the at least one sensor is configured to detect at least one of fluid color, fluid volume in the container, and orientation of the container.
