Pigtail Assembly and Installation Methods
Disclosed is a wire assembly that includes, in certain embodiments, a plurality of wires each extending from a first end to a second end, the first end of each wire being terminated by a connector. The wire assembly also includes a cable jacket and a casing. The cable jacket bundles the plurality of wires over a first region of the assembly which is positioned between the first end and the second end of the plurality of wires. The casing is coupled to the cable jacket and disposed around a second region of the assembly which is positioned proximate the second end of the plurality of wires. The casing is at least partially removable by hand so as to expose a segment of at least one of the plurality of wires.
Striped cable and process and apparatus for making same
A multi-striped electrical cable may be provided. The multi-striped electrical cable may comprise a conductor, an inner layer, an outer layer, and a stripe. The conductor core may comprise a conductor. The inner layer may be around the conductor core and may comprise an inner layer polymer. The outer layer may be around the inner layer. The outer layer may comprise an outer layer polymer, an outer layer colorant, and an outer layer friction reducing additive. The stripe may be disposed on an outermost portion of the outer layer. The stripe may comprise a stripe polymer, a stripe colorant, and a stripe friction reducing additive.
CORROSION RESISTANT WIRELINE CABLE
A method of manufacturing a corrosion-resistant wireline cable includes embedding a first layer of armor wires onto a core cable using a heated carbon fiber reinforced polymer. A second layer of carbon fiber reinforced polymer is then extruded to envelop the first layer of armor wires. In one method, a layer of virgin or colored polymer is extruded over the second layer, and a second layer of armor wires is embedded through the virgin or colored polymer, displacing it to envelop the outer armor wires. In another method, each wire in the second armor layer is coated with virgin polymer before being embedded into the second carbon fiber reinforced polymer layer. The assembly is then heated to cause the virgin polymer to migrate outward, forming an outermost layer. In both methods, a final jacket layer is applied over the exterior to complete the cable. The resulting cable provides corrosion resistance and mechanical reinforcement.
