Individually Conforming Impact Attenuating Liner for a Helmet
An impact-attenuating liner for a helmet includes a liner body made from an impact-absorbing material and a plurality of pads removably attached to an interior surface of the liner body, each of the pads being repositionable at different locations on the interior surface of the liner body. A retention system may be attached to the liner body and configured to secure the liner to the wearer's head during use. The liner may be configured to provide substantially uniform impact protection throughout the interior region of the helmet.
Helmet padding system
Aspects of the present invention are directed to helmet padding systems. One helmet padding system includes a rigid shell and a spacing pad. The rigid shell is configured to cover a top of a user's head and be worn under a baseball cap. The rigid shell includes an opening formed in an area of the rigid shell opposite the front of the user's head when the rigid shell is worn on the user's head. The spacing pad is positioned within the rigid shell. The spacing pad includes a layer of elastomeric material. The helmet padding system may further include the baseball cap positioned overtop the rigid shell. The baseball cap has a cut-out in a rear portion thereof.
Mandible guard adjustment system
Methods and devices for adjusting the position of a mandible guard relative to a helmet are disclosed. Adjustment of the mandible guard may be performed by a user while the user is wearing the helmet and/or without the use of tools. A mandible guard adjustment system may be combined with an attachment system for attaching and removing the mandible guard to a helmet.
PROTECTIVE HELMET WITH MULTIPLE PSEUDO-SPHERICAL ENERGY MANAGEMENT LINERS
A helmet comprising and outer liner and an inner liner slidably coupled to an interior surface of the outer liner is disclosed. The outer liner comprises an interior surface and the inner liner comprises an exterior surface. The inner liner is composed of an elastically deformable material. A majority of the interior surface of the outer liner and a majority of the exterior surface of the inner liner are both substantially parallel to a pseudo-spherical surface having a coronal cross section that is circular with a first radius and a sagittal cross section that is circular with a second radius different from the first radius. The inner liner is elastically deformable along the interior surface of the outer liner in response to rotation of the outer liner relative to the inner liner caused by an impact to the helmet.
PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR
A protective headgear for equestrian use provides a traditional style cowboy hat with protective features to allow it to comply with prevailing equestrian helmet standards. The hat includes interior protective padding in the top of the dome, exterior protective padding below the crown of the dome, and exterior protective padding on the rear of the hat below the brim. The protective padding may be secured to the hat by adhesive, stitching, or mechanical fasteners. A chin strap securement system comprising mutually connectable strap-and-buckle assemblies is optionally provided.

READILY REMOVABLE CATCHER'S HELMET
A catcher's helmet includes a front shell portion and a rear shell portion connected to each other at their upper regions. The front and rear shell portions are pivotable relative to each other about their upper connection. Elastic side straps connect lower regions of the front shell portion to lower regions of the rear shell portion. In use, a wearer may pull the lower region of the front shell portion (such as a jaw-protector region) away from the wearer's face, such that the front shell portion pivots away from the rear shell portion about the upper connection, allowing the helmet to be easily and quickly removed from the wearer's head. The helmet may be donned in a similar manner, after which the wearer may release the lower front portion, allowing the elastic straps to pull the lower front shell portion and lower rear shell portion together into a closed position.
ATHLETIC GEAR OR OTHER WEARABLE ARTICLES COMPRISING AN EXPANDABLE USER-ENGAGING STRUCTURE
A wearable article such as an article of athletic gear (e.g., a skate, an article of protective athletic equipment such as a helmet, etc.) wearable by a user and comprising an expandable user-engaging structure that is configured to be expanded (e.g., by heat or another stimulus) after manufacturing of the wearable article to conform it to the user or otherwise improve a fit of the wearable article on the user.
Collapsible helmet
A collapsible helmet including a shell having two or more components which are hingedly connected together about fold lines extending across the shell. Each component includes a plurality of panels with each panel being hingedly connected to at least one adjacent panel. The shell may be adjustable between a first configuration in which the helmet may be placed over the head of the user and a second configuration in which the components are flattened and are arranged in a substantially overlying relationship.
Helmet
A helmet for use by a driver of a vehicle or vessel includes a chin guard extending from side to side over the front open part of a helmet shell molded to an open-face shape, and supported about an axis passing through the right to left side of the helmet shell so as to swivel up and down, the chin guard including a surface layer member formed from a flexible material so as to be deformable by deflection into a shape conforming to different widths of different helmet shells, and a core member formed from a rigid material and mounted inside of the surface layer member to inhibit the surface layer member from deflection.
