Electrical characteristics of shielded electrical cables

A shielded electrical cable includes one or more conductor sets extending along a length of the cable and being spaced apart from each other along a width of the cable. Each conductor set has one or more conductors having a size no greater than 24 AWG and each conductor set has an insertion loss of less than about 20 dB/meter over a frequency range of 0 to 20 GHz. First and second shielding films are disposed on opposite sides of the cable, the first and second films including cover portions and pinched portions arranged such that, in transverse cross section, the cover portions of the first and second films in combination substantially surround each conductor set, and the pinched portions of the first and second films in combination form pinched portions of the cable on each side of each conductor.

A coaxial cable includes an inner conductor having one center wire, and six outer wires stranded around the center wire, an insulator covering an outer periphery of the inner conductor, and a shield conductor covering an outer periphery of the insulator, wherein, in a cross section perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of the coaxial cable, a ratio of a total area of first regions which are respectively formed by a gap between the center wire and two adjacent outer wires, with respect to an area of a circumscribed circle of the inner conductor, is 0.5% or higher and 2.0% or lower, and a ratio of a total area of second regions which are respectively formed by a gap between surfaces of the two adjacent outer wires and a surface of the insulator, with respect to the area of the circumscribed circle of the inner conductor, is 2.0% or higher and 5.0% or lower.

The present invention relates to a data cable. An embodiment of the data cable comprises at least one wire pair and an internal element. The at least one wire pair has two wires running parallel in the longitudinal direction of the data cable. The internal element has at least one flat section. The at least one wire pair and the internal element are arranged in the data cable in such a way that the at least one wire pair lies against the at least one flat section of the internal element.

A differential transmission cable module used for transmitting a differential signal between electronic devices. The module includes a cable including one inner conductor, a dielectric covering the inner conductor, and an outer conductor covering the dielectric, a sending-end substrate provided at one end of the cable, and a receiving-end substrate provided at an other end of the cable. The sending-end substrate includes two sending-end signal conductors, a sending-end ground conductor, and a sending-end signal converter for converting a differential signal transmitted through the sending-end conductors into a differential signal transmitted through the inner and outer conductors. The receiving-end substrate includes two receiving-end signal conductors, a receiving-end ground conductor, and a receiving-end signal converter for converting the differential signal transmitted through the inner and outer conductors into a differential signal transmitted through the receiving-end conductors. The cable transmits a differential signal by the inner and outer conductors.

High density shielded electrical cable and other shielded cables, systems, and methods

A shielded electrical ribbon cable includes adjacent first and second longitudinal conductor sets where each conductor set includes two or more insulated conductors. The first conductor set also includes a ground conductor that generally lies in the plane of the insulated conductors of the first conductor set. At least 90% of the periphery of each conductor set is encompassed by a shielding film. First and second non-conductive polymeric films are disposed on opposite sides of the cable and form cover portions substantially surrounding each conductor set, and pinched portions on each side of each conductor set. When the cable is laid flat, the distance between the center of the ground conductor of the first conductor set and the center of the nearest insulated conductor of the second conductor set is 1, the center-to-center spacing of the insulated conductors of the second conductor set is 2, and 1/2 is greater than 0.7.

The parallel portion is configured to electrically isolate the conductor set.
