Electric Cable
20220375651 · 2022-11-24 ·

An improved electric cable is disclosed herein. The resistance of the electric cable of the present disclosure is surprisingly decreased despite a reduction in the cross-sectional area of the conductor when at least one metal slug is positioned at an end of the cable. Conductor wires, which may or may not be individually insulated, may extend around a metal slug or through an aperture of the slug. In combination with at least one metal slug, the cross-sectional area of individual wires or the amount of wires within a stranded wire cable may be substantially reduced without seeing an expected proportionate increase in electrical resistance, and surprisingly, a decrease in resistance may be observed.

Integrated Cable Processing Device

An integrated cable processing device for performing processing operations on a cable includes a frame defining a workbench, and a plurality of cable processing mechanisms provided on the workbench for performing different processing operations on the cable. A cable clamping assembly of the device is adapted to clamp the cable, and is movable relative to the plurality of cable processing mechanisms to successively move a sub segment to be processed of the clamped cable to each of the plurality of cable processing mechanisms, and each cable processing mechanism performs the corresponding processing operation on the sub segment.

CABLE AND CABLE REINFORCEMENT SHEET
20220342168 · 2022-10-27 · ·

A cable that protects an object includes: a sheath; and a cylindrical reinforcement member disposed inside the sheath and that surrounds the object. The cylindrical reinforcement member has a first side edge and a second side edge that extend in a longitudinal direction. The cylindrical reinforcement member is formed of a cable reinforcement sheet including: a first metal sheet; and a second metal sheet joined to the first metal sheet. A portion of the first metal sheet overlaps a portion of the second metal sheet, and the overlapping portions define a joint portion where the first metal sheet and the second metal sheet are joined. The joint portion is inclined, from the second side edge to the first side edge, toward the first metal sheet.

CABLE AND CABLE MANUFACTURING METHOD
20230083864 · 2023-03-16 ·

A metallic cable includes, in order from an inner side thereof, a plurality of coated conduction wires, a press winding tape, a laminated tape, and an outer jacket. The outer jacket is provided on an outer circumference of the laminated tape and such that it covers the outer circumference of the laminated tape. The outer jacket is made of polyethylene having a density greater than or equal to that of medium-density polyethylene (MDPE) (≥930 kg/m.sup.3), and more preferably made of high-density polyethylene (≥942 kg/m.sup.3). If polyethylene having a density that is equal to or greater than that of MDPE is used to form the outer jacket, the temperature that is appropriate for extruding MDPE approaches a bonding temperature range of the resin layer of the laminated tape. The resin layer and the metal layer can be bonded and joined together at an overlapped part, tightly enclosing a cable core.

APPARATUS FOR APPLYING A SLEEVE TO A CABLE AND METHOD OF INSERTION INTO A CONDUIT

A fabric sleeve in the form of a strip of material having compatible attachment members along its lateral edges, is applied to a cable by a device located at a site where the cable can be introduced into a conduit. The device includes a beam carried by a post. The beam carries a plurality of formers which receive the sleeve and the cable from rolls and which progressively fold the sleeve around the cable. The beam also carries an attachment device which receives the sleeve and cable from the formers and which connects the attachment members of the sleeve to confine the cable therein. The attachment device can be opened so that the sleeved cable can be removed. The device is operated at the site until the sleeved cable reaches a downstream installation site and the process is repeated at that downstream site.
