COMPONENT AND USE OF A COMPONENT
A component having an active volume, the active volume not being centrally positioned along a height of the component, and/or not being centrally positioned along a width of the component. Use of the component is also disclosed. Further aspects relate to a use of the component and to a component. The component can be an NTC thermistor or a PTC thermistor or a temperature measurement element. Use of the component for monitoring a temperature of a battery or in a vehicle is also disclosed.
THERMISTOR ELEMENT
A thermistor element satisfies 4≦(d/ed) when a first distance is d, which is a shortest distance between a first internal electrode and a second external electrode, whereas a second distance is referred to as ed, which is a shortest distance between the first internal electrode and a fifth internal electrode, in a cross section of a body including an L direction and a T direction thereof.

In an embodiment, a component includes a first electrode and a second electrode arranged one above the other in a stacking direction, wherein the first electrode and the second electrode overlap in a first overlap region, wherein the first electrode has, in a first region containing the first overlap region, an extent in a first direction perpendicular to the stacking direction that is greater than an extent of the second electrode in the first direction in the first region, and wherein the first electrode has, in the first region containing the first overlap region, an extent in a second direction perpendicular to the stacking direction and to the first direction that is greater than an extent of the second electrode in the second direction in the first region, and a third electrode arranged in the same plane as the second electrode, wherein the first electrode is a floating electrode, wherein the first electrode and the third electrode overlap in a second overlap region, wherein the first electrode has, in a second region that contains the second overlap region, extents in the first direction and in the second direction that are greater than the extents of the third electrode in the first and the second direction in the second region, and wherein the first electrode has, in a connecting region that connects the first region and the second region, an extent in the first direction that is smaller than the extent of the first electrode in the first region and smaller than the extent of the first electrode in the second region.

The present invention relates to a component which comprises a main body (9) and at least one external electrode (1) which is fastened by a connecting material (4) to the main body (9), wherein the main body (9) and the external electrode (1) have different coefficients of thermal expansion which determine a critical temperature which when exceeded results in a connection between the main body (9) and the external electrode (1) experiencing mechanical stresses which lead to damage to the component, wherein the connecting material (4) has a melting point which is lower than a critical temperature.

In an embodiment, an NTC ceramic part for use in an electronic component for inrush current limiting is disclosed, wherein the NTC ceramic part has an electrical resistance in the mΩ range at a temperature of 25° C. and/or at room temperature.

An electronic component for welding, which has a function of a resistor, a capacitor, an inductor or the like, comprises: an insulating substrate; a function part and a bonding electrode part, which are provided on the insulating substrate; and a lead which is electrically connected to the bonding electrode part. The bonding electrode part is configured of: an adhesive active metal layer which is formed from a high-melting-point metal on the insulating substrate; a barrier layer which is formed from a high-melting-point metal on the active metal layer; and a bonding metal layer which is mainly composed of a low-melting-point metal and is formed on the barrier layer.

An NTC thermistor element is of less than 0402 size. A first internal electrode is connected to a first external electrode. A second internal electrode is separated from the first internal electrode and is connected to a second external electrode. A third internal electrode opposes the first and second internal electrodes and is not connected to the first external electrode and the second external electrode. A shortest distance between the first internal electrode and the third internal electrode and a shortest distance between the second internal electrode and the third internal electrode are smaller than a shortest distance between the first internal electrode and the second internal electrode, a shortest distance between the first external electrode and the third internal electrode, and a shortest distance between the second external electrode and the third internal electrode, and are less than or equal to ¼ the thickness of the thermistor body.
