Patch-Sized Fluid Delivery Systems and Methods
A patch-sized fluid delivery device may include a reusable portion and a disposable portion. The disposable portion may include components that come into contact with the fluid, while the reusable portion may include only components that do not come into contact with the fluid. Redundant systems, such as redundant controllers, power sources, motor actuators, and alarms, may be provided. Alternatively or additionally, certain components can be multi-functional, such a microphones and loudspeakers that may be used for both acoustic volume sensing and for other functions and a coil that may be used as both an inductive coupler for a battery recharger and an antenna for a wireless transceiver. Various types of network interfaces may be provided in order to allow for remote control and monitoring of the device.
Device to Determine Volume of Fluid Dispensed
An apparatus for determining the volume of fluid dispensed. The apparatus has an acoustic volume sensor that acoustically excites a reference volume and a measurement chamber with a loudspeaker and measures the acoustic response with microphones acoustically coupled to the reference and the measurement chamber. The loudspeaker and sensing microphones are connected to the measurement chamber by separate ports. A detachable dispensing chamber is coupled to the acoustic volume sensor. The volume of the fluid dispensed is determined by a processor based on the acoustic response of the microphones to acoustic excitement by the loudspeaker.

FLUID INJECTION DEVICE
A fluid injection device having a body contacting an injection site (SI); fluid reservoirs (210); an injection needle (120) that injects the contents of the reservoir(s) (210); and a respective priming needle (125) associated with each reservoir (210) for penetrating into the reservoir (210) before dispensing the fluid. Each reservoir (210) includes a tube (145) connected at one end to a priming needle (125), and at the other end to the injection needle. The device includes a reservoir selector for selecting one or more reservoirs (210), the contents of which are dispensed during the next actuation. The selector has a rotary member (132, 135) with a cam (1320, 1350) to co-operate with the tubes (145) so as to open or close the flow of fluid through each tube (145).
Infusion device
Some embodiments are directed to portable devices for transferring fluids from an external source and controllably infusing the fluids into a patient, particularly portable infusion pump devices, and protective housings for such devices, which include a pump unit, a computer, a portable fuel source, and a seal for securing the contents substantially within the protective housings of the device. Some embodiments may be formed as a single infusion pump unit or may be formed when two infusion pump units are engaged. Some embodiments also relate to methods of use of portable devices and method for the manufacture of portable devices and protective housings for such devices.
MEDICAL INFUSION SYSTEM
A medical infusion system includes a hose line with a distal end region for connection to an infusion reservoir and a proximal end region that has a patient connection port. The patient connection port has a closure device with an air-permeable and liquid-tight design. The system can be used in the medical sector for intravenous medication.
END CAP FOR MEDICAL LIQUID INJECTION APPARATUS AND MEDICAL LIQUID INJECTION APPARATUS SET
An end cap according to a disclosed embodiment is connected to a downstream side of a flow path of a medical liquid injection apparatus and is configured such that a priming liquid is introduced into the end cap. The end cap includes: a refraction part formed of a transparent material having a refractive index (n.sub.r) greater than 1 and including a first surface and a second surface forming an internal angle smaller than 90 degrees; and a indication part disposed to be spaced apart from the second surface. The end cap forms a passage in which the introduced priming liquid is movable, and a part of the passage is located between the second surface and the indication part.
Utilizing Pressure Measurements to Detect Reuse of Patient Lines
A fluid injector system configured to perform an injection protocol in connection with a diagnostic imaging procedure includes a memory for storing a predetermined pressure profile representative of pressure expected to be generated within an exemplary administration line by a priming fluid, and a control device operatively associated with a drive component to pressurize and inject at least one fluid through a subject administration line. The control device includes a processor configured to perform an operation including: actuating the drive component to prime the subject administration line; determining a distinct pressure profile indicative of a measurement of current pressure generated during the priming of the subject administration line; comparing the distinct pressure profile to the predetermined pressure profile; and determining, based on a result of the comparison, whether the subject administration line, prior to priming, contained at least one of a liquid or a gas as the extant fluid.
Priming System for Infusion Devices
Priming systems and infusion assemblies are provided. For example, a priming system comprises a priming conduit having a priming portion and a pressure portion. The priming portion is in fluid communication with a first fluid source, with an inlet and an outlet for ingress and egress of a first fluid from the first fluid source. The pressure portion is in fluid communication with a second fluid source connected by a connector. Disposed within the priming conduit are a biasing member and a valve having an open position and a closed position. The biasing member is in operable communication with the valve to urge the valve into the closed position such that the valve defaults to the closed position. The open position allows the first fluid to flow from the inlet to the outlet and the closed position prevents the first fluid from flowing from the inlet to the outlet.
