TREATMENT OF THE EAR

Presented herein are implantable systems and methods for long-term delivery of treatment substance to a recipient.

METHOD TO DELIVER REMAINING LIQUID IN AN ENTERAL OR OTHER INFUSION DEVICE

A waste-reducing pumping system and method for delivering a liquid to a patient according to a predetermined therapy protocol is characterized by a stored flush mode routine executable by a processor after an end-of-therapy stoppage of a pumping mechanism, whereby the pumping mechanism is operated to deliver residual liquid remaining in downstream tubing of an administration set to the patient to prevent the residual liquid from being wasted or manually administered at an unsafe rate.

Apparatus And Methods For Purging Catheter Systems

Apparatus and methods for providing controlled pressure-flow pulses which purge a catheter system with turbulent flow flushing. Accomplishment of such controlled pressure-flow pulses is provided by a variety of inventive devices including a special plunger rod for a conventional syringe, other interactive parts for conventional syringes, an in-line catheter attachable device which automatically generates the controlled pressure-flow pulses and also single pulse, digitally operated devices.

PATENCY CHECKING SYSTEM

A patency checking system, may include a fluid path to be coupled to an intravenous (IV) device at a distal end of the fluid path; a patency port formed along a length of the fluid path; and a plunger fluidically coupled to the fluid path at the patency port to selectively draw blood into the fluid path to confirm patency of the fluid path.

System and method for delivering a fluid with a consistent total volumetric flowrate

Provided is a method for delivering a medical fluid. The method includes delivering a fluid volume, which includes contrast and/or a flush fluid, at a preselected total volumetric flowrate during a first duration of a fluid delivery procedure. The amount of the contrast agent and the flush fluid in the fluid volume can be controllably varied during the first duration of the fluid delivery procedure so as to substantially maintain a preselected total volumetric flowrate throughout the first duration of the fluid delivery procedure. Also provided is a fluid delivery system capable of performing this method.

Fluid delivery device, transcutaneous access tool and fluid drive mechanism for use therewith

A fluid delivery device comprising a fluid reservoir; a transcutaneous access tool fluidly coupled to the fluid reservoir; and a drive mechanism for driving fluid from the reservoir, the drive mechanism comprising a plunger received in the reservoir; a leadscrew extending from the plunger; a nut threadably engaged with the leadscrew; a drive wheel; and a clutch mechanism coupled to the drive wheel, wherein the clutch mechanism is configured to allow the nut to pass through when disengaged and is configured to grip the nut when engaged such that the drive wheel rotates the nut to advance the drive rod and the plunger into the reservoir.

HAND-CONTROL DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING OPERATION OF INJECTION SYSTEM

A hand-control device for controlling the operation of an injection system is described herein. The hand-control device includes one or more input components that receive input to control various operations of the injection system, including commanding the injection to perform a particular operation, changing an operational aspect of the injection system, and selecting an operational mode for the injection system. A communication unit of the hand-control device generates and conveys a signal for the injection system, and receives a command signal from the injection system. An output component outputs an indication, such as a light emission, a sound, or haptic feedback, in response to receiving the command signal. In some instances, this indication acts as a confirmation or failure of the intended input.

Flushing a fluid line from a medical pump

A method and medical pump to perform a flushing procedure are provided. The medical pump is configured to execute the flushing procedure subsequent to an infusion procedure, the flushing procedure and infusion procedure lacking a specified relationship between each other until after performance of the infusion procedure. The method comprises performing an infusion procedure of a medicament with the medical pump and automatically querying in human detectable form whether to execute a flushing procedure in response to conclusion of the infusion procedure.

Flush Syringe With Flip Cap

Flush syringe assemblies are described herein. Such flush syringe assembly may include a barrel including a side wall defining a chamber, a collar mounted on a distal wall of the barrel and surrounding an elongate tip. A cap may be attached to the collar via a hinge. The flush syringe assembly may also include a cap attached to the collar via a hinge. A ring may be disposed around the collar with a locking element that engages with a corresponding mating locking projection on the cap. The cap may include a slanted surface. The slanted surface of the cap may include one or more ribs made of an elastomeric material.

A distal end portion of an elongate shaft member of a catheter may be inserted into a liquid within a vessel. While the distal end portion of the elongate shaft member is inserted in the liquid in the vessel, a manipulable portion of the catheter may be manipulated within the liquid to remove an undesired fluid therefrom. The liquid may be pressurized to cause the liquid to flow into a lumen of the elongate shaft member from a distal end of the elongate shaft member at least toward a proximal end of the elongate shaft member to facilitate flushing of the undesired fluid from the lumen. The distal end portion of the elongate shaft member of the catheter may be inserted into the liquid within the vessel while at least the elongate shaft member is in a substantially horizontal orientation.
