A transfer device for a patient care apparatus includes: a first docking cup and a second docking cup, each of the first docking cup and the second docking cup aligned with a vertical axis, defining a conical surface aligned with the vertical axis, and sized to receive a receiver; a security mechanism enclosed within the transfer device; a support shaft disposed between the first docking cup and the second docking cup; and a shaft brake mechanism engageable with the support shaft, at least a portion of the shaft brake mechanism disposed below the support shaft and disposed between the first docking cup and the second docking cup.

APPARATUS FOR INFUSING FLUID

A pump for pumping fluid includes a tube platen, a plunger, a bias member, inlet and outlet valves, an actuator mechanism, a position sensor, and a processor. The plunger is configured for actuation toward and away from the infusion-tube when the tube platen is disposed opposite to the plunger. The tube platen can hold an intravenous infusion tube. The bias member is configured to urge the plunger toward the tube platen.

Intravenous pole base having tessellating elements

An IV pole base is configured to couple in a tessellating manner to at least one other like IV pole base. The IV pole base can comprise a horizontal rectangular plate having four side edges and a given thickness (at least along the aforementioned side edges). This plate has a plurality of tessellating elements comprising each of a blank and a tab formed at each of the four side edges. The IV pole base further comprises a stabilizing thickening element disposed at a periphery of at least one of the tessellating elements to locally increase the thickness of the IV pole base beyond the thickness of the plate to thereby increase tessellation stability. The plate also includes an IV pole coupler formed centrally thereto, the IV pole coupler being configured to receive and hold an IV pole such that the IV pole extends outwardly perpendicularly to the plate.

Method and Apparatus Pertaining to a Retroactive Application of a Flexible Sheet of Antimicrobial Copper

An apparatus comprises a flexible sheet comprised of antimicrobial copper that is configured to retroactively wrap conformably about at least one predetermined touch surface. The apparatus can further include a securement mechanism that is configured to secure that flexible sheet to the predetermined touch surface.

SUBCUTANEOUS HYDRATION SYSTEM, METHOD, AND DEVICE

Systems, methods, and devices for providing subcutaneous hydration are disclosed. A system for providing subcutaneous hydration may include an infusion bag including a hydration fluid, a tubing removably connected to the infusion bag, a squeezable bulb at least partially encompassing the tubing for at least one of flushing and priming the tubing, and a deployment device including an integrated needle which provides subcutaneous hydration through the needle. A deployment device for subcutaneous hydration includes a base having a needle aperture, a casing attached to the base, a firing mechanism within the casing for deploying a needle from the casing, and at least one wing attached to the base that includes an actuator that regulates the firing mechanism. A method for providing subcutaneous hydration may include steps necessary to operate the systems and devices for subcutaneous hydration.

An intravenous (IV) pole assembly includes a non-conductive support element, distribution rails respectively disposed along a length of the non-conductive support element and a clamping element. The distribution rails are respectively configured for power distribution along the length of the non-conductive support element. The clamping element includes a hinged clamp, which is attachable to the non-conductive support element at an attachment point defined along the length of the non-conductive support element, and a connector by which power is selectively transmittable from the distribution rails to a powered device supportable on the hinged clamp.

Apparatus for and method in direct drug infusion using a label as a hanger

An apparatus and method for direct drug infusion from a vial to a patient are provided. A movable hanger label is provided to adhere to and support the vial to facilitate direct infusion of a drug, such as one or more pharmaceuticals, biopharmaceuticals, and/or biologics, from the vial to the patient. Additionally, a process is provided in which the drug, contained in the vial with the movable hanger label, may be directly infused through a primed infusion line with a rapid infusion rate. A saline flush is incorporated at the end of the administration to flush the infusion line, resulting in a reduced amount of the drug remaining in the line.
