The second magnetic leg is disposed between the first magnetic leg and the third magnetic leg. The first secondary winding is disposed between the first magnetic leg and the second magnetic leg, and the second secondary winding is disposed between the second magnetic leg and the third magnetic leg. A first terminal of the primary winding is disposed between the first magnetic leg and the second magnetic leg, and a second terminal of the primary winding is disposed between the second magnetic leg and the third magnetic leg.

An electromagnetic component such as a power inductor includes first and second magnetic core pieces and a preformed coil winding therebetween. The preformed coil winding includes a top winding section and a pair of coplanar winding legs defining a U-shaped winding section therewith. The pair of winding legs are oriented perpendicular to a circuit board in use. First and second surface mount terminals respectively extend perpendicular to the pair of winding legs in opposing directions to each other, such that each of them extends only on one of the first and second magnetic core pieces but not the other.

The magnetic base includes a bottom plate, a core column, and a lateral wall defining a positioning trench. The coil structure includes a coil body, a first extending section, and a second extending section. The coil body disposed in the positioning trench surrounds the core column. The first extending section includes a first bent portion and a first terminal portion connected at a first connecting point. The second extending section includes a second bent portion and a second terminal portion connected at a second connecting point. A shortest distance between a first imaginary connection line defined between the first and second connecting points and a central axis of the core column is less than a minimum outer radius of the coil body.

COIL DEVICE

An inductor includes a coil; terminals including wire connecting portions connected to lead portions of the coil, and base portions positioned at substantially the same height as a bottom surface of the coil and holding the wire connecting portions; and a core covering the coil together with the wire connecting portions and the base portions. The base portions include main branch portions and sub branch portions. Inner edges of the main branch portions are formed with curved portions curved along an outer peripheral surface of the coil at positions separated from the outer peripheral surface of the coil, respectively. Inner edges of the sub branch portions are formed with curved portions curved along the outer peripheral surface of the coil at positions separated from the outer peripheral surface of the coil, respectively.
