A controllable oscillation damping installation is designed for damping and/or reducing an excitation of at least one oscillation of the system capable of rotational oscillation and/or excitable by the system capable of rotational oscillation. The method includes: operating the drive motor system to drive the shaft for moving the working tool installation; and controlling the oscillation damping installation during operation such that the oscillation is at least damped and/or an excitation of the oscillation is reduced.

A gauge wheel is rotatably mounted on a gauge wheel shaft slideable in the first hydraulic cylinder between a fully extended position and a fully retracted position. In the fully retracted position, the mower deck rests flat on the ground and is not supported by gauge wheels. An orifice between the first and second hydraulic cylinders provides a high damping rate to slow travel of the gauge wheel shaft between the fully extended and fully retracted positions. A coil spring with a low spring rate also may be connected to a piston in the second hydraulic cylinder.

A gang reel mower has a hybrid engine, generator and battery pack electric power system driving a pair of electric wheel motors for propelling the mower and for driving individual reel motors for powering a plurality of reel cutting units. A master controller is programmable with a selected clip and maintains the selected clip whether the mower travels straight ahead or is turning. The output power of the generator is damped and is gradually increased during high electrical loads to prevent step responses in the engine and thereby limit engine droop. During regenerative braking of the mower, the generator can be driven as a motor to use the engine as a load. This limits the voltage produced by the traction motors during regenerative braking from damaging the electrical system or overcharging the battery pack. Moreover, maximum transport and mowing ground speeds are automatically reduced during some turns of the mower.

Height adjustable mower deck

A mower deck can include a linkage that enables adjusting the height of the mower deck with a single action. The mower deck can include a rolling mechanism support arm at each corner and a coupling mechanism that extends between the front and rear rolling mechanism support arms on each side of the mower deck. A shaft can extend between the two front rolling mechanism support arms and can be rotated via an actuator. When the shaft is rotated, the front rolling mechanism support arms will rotate in unison, and the coupling mechanisms will cause the rear rolling mechanism support arms to also rotate in unison. In this way, a single action can cause the height of the mower deck to be adjusted. Alternatively, a mower deck can include a height adjustment mechanism at each corner of the mower deck which can be controlled synchronously to adjust the height.

A lawn mowing apparatus may include sensors that are fastened to both its mower deck and its chassis. The sensors may sense a position of the mower deck in relation to the chassis. The sensed position of the mower deck may be presented to the operator via a dashboard display of the lawn tractor or transmitted via a wireless signal to another device. Based on such sensed position, an operator of the lawn tractor may manually adjust the position of the mower deck until the sensed position of the mower deck is within an acceptable operating range. In some embodiments, servomotors may used to adjust the position of the mower deck until the sensed position of the mower deck is within an acceptable range.
