The disclosure provides an electrochemical pump which comprises a substrate and at least one planar electrode and a micro-delivery device comprising the same. The substrate has an upper surface. The planar electrode is disposed on the upper surface and comprises at least one sharp corner.

Drug delivery device

The present application provides a self-powered drug-delivery device. The device includes a chamber having a wall. The chamber contains a fluid and is in connection with an administration means. The device also includes a displacement-generating battery cell. The device further includes an electrically-controlled battery unit, which includes the displacement-generating battery cell coupled to the chamber by a coupling means. The displacement-generating battery cell includes an element that changes shape as a result of charge or discharge of the battery cell so as to cause a displacement within the battery unit. The arrangement of the battery unit, the coupling means, the wall, the chamber, and the administration means is such that the displacement derived from the battery unit is conveyed by the coupling means to cause displacement of the wall of the chamber such that the fluid is expelled from the chamber to force a drug towards the administration means.

An orientation independent delivery device including a replaceable cartridge that may be installed on a foundation. A cartridge includes a gas chamber, a delivery chamber, a gas cell, and a delivery aperture. The gas chamber includes a gas-side rigid portion and a gas-side flexible barrier. The gas-side flexible barrier is sealed to the gas-side rigid portion. The delivery chamber includes a delivery-side rigid portion and a delivery-side flexible barrier. The delivery-side flexible barrier is sealed to the delivery-side rigid portion and is oriented adjacent to the gas-side flexible barrier. The gas cell is coupled to the gas-side rigid portion of the gas chamber. The gas cell increases a gas pressure within the gas chamber to expand the gas-side flexible barrier. Expansion of the gas-side flexible barrier applies a compressive force to the delivery-side flexible barrier allowing a delivery material to escape from the delivery chamber.

Self-regulating electrolytic gas generator and implant system comprising the same

Self-regulating electrolytic gas generator and implant system including the same. In one embodiment, the electrolytic gas generator is a water electrolyzer and includes a polymer electrolyte membrane with an anode on one side and a cathode on the other side. Anode and cathode seals surround the peripheries of the anode and cathode and include inlets for water and outlets for oxygen and hydrogen, respectively. A cathode current collector is placed in contact with the cathode, and an anode current collector, which may be an elastic, electrically-conductive diaphragm, is positioned proximate to the anode. The anode current collector is reversibly deformable between a first state in which it is in direct physical and electrical contact with the anode and a second state in which it distends, due to gas pressure generated at the anode, so that it is not in physical or electrical contact with the anode, causing electrolysis to cease.

Infusion system for the controlled delivery of therapeutic agents
10549031 · 2020-02-04 · ·

Embodiments of the invention provide infusion systems for the intravenous or other delivery of drugs and other therapeutic agents to a patient including a human or mammal. The therapeutic agents may be dissolved in solution or comprise the solution itself. Embodiments of the systems can utilize a chemical reaction to predictably drive a flow of drug(s) through a catheter or other flow path and into the patient. More specifically, the reaction may include an acid-base reaction or any other reaction that produces a gaseous substance. The gas is produced and contained in an expandable drive balloon when the acid-base reactants are combined with a liquid. As the gas is produced, the drive balloon expands to exert pressure on a separately-contained drug reservoir which, in turn, pushes drug(s) from the reservoir into the flow path where the drug is ultimately delivered to the patient in a controlled and predetermined manner.

INVERTED BATTERY DEVICES, AND SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR USE THEREOF

An inverted battery device has a pair of electrodes, first and second volumes, and an electrical conductor. One of the pair of electrodes is configured as an anode and the other is configured as a cathode. A first electrolyte solution and the anode are disposed in the first volume, while a second electrolyte solution and the cathode are disposed in the second volume. The electrical conductor extends between the first and second volumes to couple the pair of electrodes to each other such that electrons travel between the pair of electrodes. The device is constructed to produce ions rather than electrons such that an ionic current can be generated in a separate system, such as a biological system or other ionic system, when coupled between the anode and cathode.

WEARABLE MEDICATION DELIVERY DEVICE

Systems and methods for delivering a medication to a person experiencing an emergency medical event without requiring intervention or action on the part of the person. A device encases a reservoir of medication and a delivery mechanism. Sensors in the housing sense a physical attribute of the person and circuitry monitors information collected by the sensors to determine if the person is experiencing a severe medical condition or event based on the information. An input device on or in the housing, such as a button, may be used or activated by the person if the detected condition or event is a false positive to cancel further action. If the system does not include the button or if the user does not press it in time, the system activates the delivery device and injects the medication into the person.
