INTEGRATED ELECTRICAL COIL AND COIL STACK ASSEMBLY

An improved electrical coil unit is described which includes generally a coil member encapsulated within an iron-containing metal housing wherein the housing has an increased surface area to better transfer heat and provide air flow during operation. Each coil unit includes a coil member comprising a bobbin made of a non-conducting fiberglass impregnated resin and an insulated copper wire coiled around the outer surface of the bobbin member in multiple layers. Each coil unit is housed in an iron containing metal housing. The exterior surface of the housing preferably includes a plurality of fins extending longitudinally around the housing. A coating material is provided to encapsulate the coil member within the housing to form an integrated coil unit. The integrated coil units may be stacked to form a coil stack assembly.

ELECTRICAL TRANSFORMER SYSTEMS AND METHODS

An electrical transformer includes a coil pack including windings, and spacers axially spacing turns of the windings from one another and being formed of a thermoplastic material. Sticks couple and position the spacers. The coil pack has high resistivity to creep and permits temperature rise without degradation of transformer insulation, providing for extended service life and unique methods of transformer system upgrade.

Systems and methods for transformer cooling by vertical airflow are described. One embodiment of an air transfer unit includes an assembly frame that includes an interior portion and defines a lateral side, an upper side, and a lower side, where the assembly frame includes a length that is substantially the same as a width of a plurality of cooling fins on a transformer. Some embodiments include a plurality of air directing apparatuses that are positioned in the interior portion and are aligned along the length of the assembly frame, where the plurality of air directing apparatuses receive airflow from the lateral side and direct the airflow vertically through the upper side to further cool the plurality of cooling fins. Similarly, some embodiments include an exhaust screen that is coupled to the upper side, wherein the exhaust screen further consolidates the airflow vertically toward the plurality of cooling fins.

A high-voltage noise filter of a power conversion device includes: a metal housing; an anode bus bar connecting anodes of a power source and a power module; a cathode bus bar connecting cathodes thereof; a first magnetic core having a through hole where the anode bus bar and the cathode bus bar pass through; an X capacitor having one end connected to the anode bus bar, and the other end connected to the cathode bus bar; a first Y capacitor having one end connected to the anode bus bar, and the other end grounded; a second Y capacitor having one end connected to the cathode bus bar, and the other end grounded; and a first cooling unit connected to the first magnetic core and the metal housing. The anode bus bar partly faces the first cooling unit, and the cathode bus bar partly faces the first cooling unit.

A power converter is provided that includes a reactor that is improved in effect of cooling a core and a winding. The power converter includes: a cooling member having a first cooling surface; and a reactor including a core portion and a winding portion. The core portion is a rectangular parallelepiped and disposed on the first cooling surface that is larger in area than the core portion in a plan view. The winding is wound around the core portion and the cooling member. The power converter further includes a power conversion module connected to one end of the winding portion.
