Integration of infusion pump with remote electronic device
09737656 · 2017-08-22 · ·

A system and method can provide for a remote electronic device to be used to remotely initiate delivery of a medicament bolus with a medical device, such as an insulin pump, with the medical device providing audible or tactile confirmation of the programmed bolus. The bolus amount can be calculated by or programmed or otherwise entered into the smartphone, etc., and then transmitted to the medical device. When the pump receives the transmitted bolus amount, it issues one or more indications such as audible sounds and/or vibrations in any number of desired combinations. For instance, each individual sound or vibration may correspond to an increment of the medicament. The user can therefore determine the size of the medicament bolus by the number of sounds or vibrations and can confirm or cancel delivery of the bolus.

INFUSION PUMP SYSTEM AND METHOD WITH COMMON LINE AUTO FLUSH

An infusion pump system and method with common line auto flush, wherein the infusion pump system has a first reservoir, a second reservoir, a junction, a common line having one end in fluid connection with the junction and having a terminal fluid delivery end, and an infusion pump. The method includes infusing the first fluid at a first rate along a first flow path; entering a common line flush volume value for the common line; switching from the first flow path to a second flow path; driving the second fluid at the first rate along the second flow path; monitoring volume of the second fluid driven at the first rate; and driving the second fluid at a second rate along the second flow path when the monitored volume is equal to or greater than the common line flush volume value.

THERAPY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND DEVICES

One or more embodiments of the disclosure are related, generally, to a reusable accessory for a manual medication delivery device. Such a reusable accessory may include a wireless communication interface, a detection circuitry, and a recommendation system. In one or more embodiments, an adapter may be configured to reversibly couple such a reusable accessory to a manual medication delivery device. Dosing events may be detected that are associated with dosing at the manual medication delivery device. Dose recommendations may be provided responsive to analyte measurements and/or dosing events.

Insulin Management
20220037016 · 2022-02-03 · ·

A method of administering insulin includes receiving glucose measurements of a patient at a data processing device from a continuous glucose monitoring system. The glucose measurements are separated by a time interval. The method also includes receiving patient information at the data processing device and selecting a subcutaneous insulin treatment from a collection of subcutaneous insulin treatments. The selection is based on the glucose measurements and the patient information. The selection includes one or more of a subcutaneous standard program, a subcutaneous program without meal boluses, a meal-by-meal subcutaneous program without carbohydrate counting, a meal-by-meal subcutaneous program with carbohydrate counting, and a subcutaneous program for non-diabetic patients. The method also includes executing, using the data processing device, the selected subcutaneous insulin treatment.

ADJUSTING INSULIN DELIVERY RATES

A method may include generating a first plurality of insulin delivery profiles that include a first series of insulin delivery actions spanning a first time interval, projecting a first plurality of future blood glucose values for each profile of the first plurality of profiles using up-to-date blood glucose levels, selecting one of the first plurality of profiles based upon comparing future blood glucose values for each profile and target blood glucose levels, delivering insulin for a second time interval that corresponds to a first action of the first profile, generating a second plurality of insulin delivery profiles for a third time interval, projecting a second plurality of future blood glucose values for each profile of the second plurality of profiles for the third time interval, and delivering a second dose of insulin for a fourth time interval shorter than the third time interval.

Drug delivery system and a method for operating a drug delivery system

An inventive drug delivery system includes a reservoir that holds a drug to be administered. A drug applicator injects or infuses the drug, and a pump generates a flow of the drug from the reservoir to the drug applicator. A control system has a pressure sensor that measures pressure signals indicative of resistance against the flow of the drug and a processor is in communication with the pressure sensor. The control system detects with the pressure sensor a pressure signal indicative of the resistance against the flow of the drug while the drug is being administered and compares the measured pressure signal to a reference value. The control system also generates display data and provides it to an output device when the measured pressure signal exceeds the reference value. The display data includes a scheduled test reminder for a glucose level test that is communicated to an output device.

Automatic Anesthesiology Pump Allowing Improved Anesthesiologist Mobility
20170232194 · 2017-08-17 ·

An anesthesiology pump for automatic delivery and control of anesthetics to a patient provides a remote unit that may be carried by an anesthesiologist to improve supervision of the anesthesiology process without unnecessarily constraining the anesthesiologist's movement. The anesthesiology pump may assess one or both of a status of the anesthesiology procedure and the availability of the anesthesiologist to provide tailored alerts to the anesthesiologist when additional attention or availability may be needed. Availability may consider separation distance between the pump and the radiologist as well as express indications of availability. A set of predefined safe states permit a pump response when the anesthesiologist is not available and additional attention is required.

DETERMINATION OF ADJUSTMENTS TO FLUID DELIVERY SETTINGS

Disclosed herein are techniques related to determination of adjustments to fluid delivery settings. In some embodiments, the techniques may involve accessing insulin delivery data for a user of an insulin delivery device. The insulin delivery data may be indicative of an amount of insulin delivered by the insulin delivery device to the user during a time period. The techniques may also involve analyzing the insulin delivery data to generate an updated insulin sensitivity factor (ISF) value. The techniques may further involve generating, based on the updated ISF value, a recommendation to adjust an ISF value of the insulin delivery device. Additionally, the techniques may involve causing adjustment of the ISF value to the updated ISF value in accordance with the recommendation.
