Transformers, power converters having tranformers, and methods of converting electrical power
A transformer includes a core with a surface, a primary winding with two or more primary winding turns wrapped about the core, and a secondary winding with one and only one secondary winding turn extending about the core. The one and only one secondary winding turn is interleaved among the two or more primary winding turns on the surface of the core to limit magnetic flux leakage along the primary winding and the secondary winding. Power converters and power conversion methods are also described.
COMMON MODE FILTER
A common mode filter is provided. A common mode filter according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention comprises: a ring-shaped magnetic core made of a magnetic material and installed so as to be positioned in an arrangement hole which is formed through a circuit board in a predetermined area; a plurality of coils wound around an outer surface of the magnetic core; and a base member to which the magnetic core having the plurality of coils wound thereon is coupled, and having a plurality of connector members for electrically connecting the plurality of coils to the outside, wherein the base member is installed such that a portion thereof is caught on an edge side of the arrangement hole.
INDUCTOR WINDING SHAPE CONTROLLED APPARATUS AND METHOD OF USE THEREOF
The invention comprises an apparatus, comprising: an inductor, comprising: an inductor core and a winding comprising a wound shape around the inductor core, where the winding comprises a first cross-sectional area at a first longitudinal position along the winding and a second cross-sectional area at a second longitudinal position along the winding, the second cross-sectional area at least twenty percent larger than the first cross-sectional area. Optionally and preferably, the winding includes a first set of cast elements sharing a first geometric shape and a second set of cast elements sharing a second geometric shape, where the alternating members of the first set of cast elements and the second set of cast elements are welded together to form the winding.
EMBEDDED MAGNETIC DEVICE INCLUDING MULTILAYER WINDINGS
A device includes a substrate; a magnetic core in the substrate and including a hole; a first winding extending through the hole and around the magnetic core; a second winding extending through the hole, around the magnetic core, and around a portion of the first winding; a first covering located on a first surface of the substrate and over a first portion of the second winding; and a second covering located on a second surface of the substrate and over a second portion of the second winding. The first and the second windings only extend around the same half of the magnetic core.
AC DRIVE COUPLED TO ZIGZAG TRANSFORMER POWER PROCESSING APPARATUS AND METHOD OF USE THEREOF
The invention comprises a method and apparatus for processing power, comprising the steps of: generating/using 3-phase power; feeding an AC drive with the 3-phase power, the AC drive generating a first output; and transforming the first output with a zigzag transformer, the zigzag transformer linked to at least one load output/load connector. The method and apparatus comprises an optional filter for filtering the 3-phase power prior to the step of transforming, the filter including a distributed gap core material.
Inductor component
An inductor component includes a bottom plate portion that includes a first main surface and a second main surface; an annular core that is disposed on the bottom plate portion; a coil that is wound around the core; and an electrode terminal that is attached to the bottom plate portion and electrically connected to the coil. The electrode terminal includes a mounting surface portion configured to connect to a mount substrate. The core is disposed on the first main surface of the bottom plate portion so that an axis of the core intersects the first main surface of the bottom plate portion. The mounting surface portion is exposed on the second main surface side of the bottom plate portion, and at least a part of the mounting surface portion overlaps the core when seen in a direction perpendicular to the first main surface of the bottom plate portion.
Electrical transformer
In some examples, an isolation transformer can include a first wire having a first insulation thickness and a second wire having a second insulation thickness that is different than the first insulation thickness. The isolation transformer can further include a plurality of magnetic cores of magnetic material that can be configured to surround portions of each of the first and second wires along respective circumferences of the first and second wires to provide the isolation transformer.

The wound core component comprises a threaded insert for receiving a corresponding threaded fixing, the threaded insert fixedly received into the through-hole of the carrier circuit board.

The invention comprises a harmonic filter apparatus and method of use thereof for magnetically isolating and filtering individual phases of three-phase power comprising a delta circuit that includes: (1) a first leg connecting to a second leg and a third leg and (2) first circuitry on the first leg matching second circuitry on the second leg, the first circuitry comprising at least two contactors electrically wired in parallel, the harmonic filter magnetically isolating individual phases of three-phase power, where inductor—coupled inductor pairs couple apexes of the delta circuit to individual phases of the three-phase power.
