Device For Inserting A Needle
The insertion device for inserting a needle into a site having a body provided with a bearing wall for resting on the site, a needle support on which a needle is mounted, the needle support being mounted so as to be able to move relative to the bearing wall between a position before insertion, at least one insertion position, and at least one retracted position, an electric motor comprising a rotation shaft, the electric motor being intended to move the needle support in translation between the different positions of the needle support, a detection unit configured to provide a value relative to the operation of the electric motor, and an electronic unit configured to cooperate with the detection unit in order to control the depth of insertion of the needle.
DEVICE FOR DELIVERING MEDICATION TO A PATIENT
A method for managing delivery of medication to a patient including medication dosage control and medication flow rate control for the patient. The method comprises controlling flow rate of the medication to be delivered to the patient through a needle that is subcutaneously inserted into the patient including: monitoring glucose levels in the patient using a continuous glucose monitoring device; converting the glucose levels from the continuous glucose monitoring device into instructions by control algorithms within a microcontroller unit; commanding a pumping unit to deliver the medication through the needle at a flow rate based on the converted instructions; and delivering the medication through the needle into the patient at the flow rate; and adjusting the flow rate continually to reduce a difference between actual flow rate measured off of the pumping unit and a converted flow rate from the continuous glucose monitoring device.
Apparatus, system and method for fluid delivery
A fill adapter system for an infusion pump assembly. The system includes a reusable fill adapter base, the base including a volume control mechanism to adjust an available fill volume of a reservoir of the infusion pump assembly and a pump mechanism configured to pump air into a fluid vial. The system also includes a vial adapter assembly including a first needle configured to penetrate a septum of the fluid vial for fluidly coupling the pump mechanism to the fluid vial and a second needle having a first end configured to penetrate the septum of the fluid vial and a second end configured to penetrate a septum of the reservoir of the infusion pump assembly to allow transfer of fluid from the fluid vial to the reservoir of the infusion pump assembly in response to air being pumped into the fluid vial and a needle carriage adapted to carry the first needle and the second needle, wherein the needle carriage slidably attached to the interior of the vial adapter assembly, wherein the needle carriage adapted to slide from a vial end of the vial adapter to a receptacle end of the vial adapter.
System and method for a closed loop control in an artificial pancreas
The present invention provides a closed loop control method in an artificial pancreas and a system using the method, comprising sensing an activity level of a patient by at least one motion sensor and providing signals to at least one processer; then adjusting a series of related algorithms depending partly on the signals by the processer to provide more accurate and reliable data that is the basis of desirable treatment plans, and sending corresponding instructions by the processer for automatic operations of the artificial pancreas to realize a closed loop control.
IRREMOVABLE BUCKLING-RESISTANT FLEXIBLE CANNULA AND PROCESS
A cannula includes a tubular body having an axial dimension through which a flow channel extends. The tubular body has a first end for insertion into a subject, and a second end configured to be held within a base of a medical device. The tubular body has a first length portion extending along the axial dimension from the first end toward the second end. A second length portion extends along the axial dimension from the first length portion toward the second end, and has an outer dimension that flares outward to be larger than the outer dimension of the first length portion. The second length portion also has a tubing wall thickness that is greater than the tubing wall thickness of the first length portion.
RADIALLY ADJUSTABLE MULTI-CARTRIDGE COMBINATORIAL DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE FOR SUBCUTANEOUS INJECTION
In one aspect, a drug delivery device is provided for delivering drug from a plurality of drug cartridges. The drug delivery device includes: a cylindrical cassette configured to accommodate the plurality of drug cartridges; a reversibly advanceable plunger; and, an indexer for incrementally rotating the cassette to align the plurality of drug cartridges individually with the plunger. The indexer includes first and second shafts with cooperating elements which cause incremental rotation of the first shaft, relative to the second shaft, upon the second shaft engaging the first shaft.
METHOD FOR MODIFICATION OF MAXIMUM DELIVERY LIMITS IN AUTOMATIC DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEMS
The disclosed embodiments are directed to methods for adjusting, on a per individual basis, the maximum delivery limit of insulin delivered to a diabetic person via an automatic insulin delivery system, particularly for a diabetic who receives basal or bolus doses of insulin via an automatic insulin delivery system. Various embodiments of the method disclosed herein may be incorporated into a dosing algorithm of an automatic insulin delivery system.
HYBRID INJECTION-PUMP INSULIN DELIVERY
The disclosed embodiments are directed to methods for determining, based on input from a manual insulin delivery device, for example, an insulin pen, a proper bolus dosing to be delivered by an AID system, to assess the sufficiency of the user-administered basal dose of long-acting insulin and to recommend any changes to the long-acting delivery following a daily analysis of the user's blood glucose readings.
Drug delivery device and method of operation
A computerized electro-mechanical drug delivery device configured to deliver at least one dose of two or more medicaments. The device comprises a control unit. An electro-mechanical drive unit is operably coupled to the control unit and a primary reservoir for a first medicament and a secondary reservoir for a fluid agent, e.g. a second medicament. An operator interface is in communication with the control unit. A single dispense assembly is configured for fluid communication with the primary and the secondary reservoir. Activation of the operator panel sets a first dose from the primary reservoir and based on the first dose and a therapeutic dose profile, the control unit is configured to determine a dose or range of the fluid agent. Alternatively, the control unit determines or calculates a dose or range of a third medicament. Further, a dispense interface for use with a drug delivery device is disclosed.
