Infusion systems and methods for administering an infusion fluid into a patients anatomic space at a variable flow rate without flow control include an administration set having a flexible tube fluidically connected to a needle connector, the needle connector including a receiving end fluidically connected to flexible tube, and an administering end opposite the receiving end and fluidically connected with an infusion needle, and the infusion needle having an inside diameter of about 0.0104 inches to about 0.0135 inches and fluidically connected to the administering end of the flexible tubing to deliver the infusion fluid to the patients anatomic space at variable flow rates dependent upon the saturation of the infusion fluid at the patients injection site.

Systems and methods for detecting disruptions in fluid delivery devices

A sensor system capable of detecting tissue counter pressure from patients that utilize infusion pumps to administer their medication is provided. Embodiments include a retrofitted piece that is placed between the user's infusion set and pump, as well as a “smart” infusion set configured for measuring characteristics of a fluid traveling therethrough. Hardware is provided that couples with the sensor to store, analyze, and compare data to distinguish between normal and non-normal injection/infusion profiles. An alert system notifies the user of a malfunction within the pump, within the infusion set, or at the injection/infusion site.

LIQUID DRUG PUMPS INCLUDING USER FEEDBACK INDICATING PUMP ORIENTATION

Various exemplary liquid drug pumps including user feedback indicating pump orientation are provided. In general, a pump configured to deliver a liquid drug to a patient includes a user interface configured to indicate an orientation of the pump. The pump also includes a reservoir configured to contain the drug therein, a conduit configured to receive the drug therein from the reservoir, a needle or cannula in fluid communication with the conduit and configured to deliver the drug therethrough to a patient wearing the pump, a fluid path fluidly connecting the reservoir and the needle or cannula, and a pumping assembly configured to pump the fluid through the fluid path from the reservoir to the needle or cannula. The user interface indicating the pump's orientation allows a user of the pump to know whether or not the pump is in a desired orientation for delivery of the drug to the patient.

A drive system for a drug delivery system includes a pressure chamber, a primary container, and a pressurized fluid. The pressure chamber has an outer surface and an inner surface that defines an interior volume. The primary container also has an outer surface and an inner surface that defines an interior volume to store a medicament to be administered to a user. The primary container is at least partially disposed within the interior volume of the pressure chamber. The pressurized fluid is disposed in the interior volume of the pressure chamber and is pressurized to exert a pressure on at least a portion of the outer surface of the primary container.

DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE WITH TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT AND RELATED METHOD

A drug delivery device and related method of operation of a drug delivery device is described that includes a housing, a reservoir removably disposed within the housing and having a sidewall defining an interior for containing a drug, a temperature sensor that is configured to measure a current temperature relating to at least one of the reservoir, the sidewall of the reservoir, the housing, or the drug, and an output device that is configured to output data relating to the current temperature.

DRUG ADMINISTRATION DEVICES THAT COMMUNICATE WITH EXTERNAL SYSTEMS AND/OR OTHER DEVICES

In general, drug administration devices configured to communicate with networks and external devices are provided. In an exemplary embodiment, a drug administration device is configured to adjust an operational parameter of the drug administration device based on a data packet formed from drug administration data ancillary data received from networks and/or external devices. In another example embodiment, a drug administration device is configured to scan for and establish communications with at least one external device. In another example embodiment, a method includes assessing whether to update a control program on a drug administration device from a network or external device. In another example embodiment, a system includes a first drug administration device configured to communicate with a second drug administration device to optimize a drug treatment.

INFUSION SET WITH ROTATABLE HUB AND PROCESS

A hub member for an infusion set device includes a body and pads configured to receive a squeezing force directed radially inward relative to an axis of the body. The body compresses radially inward relative to the axis in response to the squeezing force. A plurality of connection features on the body are moveable from a first position radially inward toward a second position when the hub member is compressed radially inward. The connection features engage one or more further connection features on a housing to attach the hub member to the housing when the connection features are in the first position, and disengage the further connection features to release the hub member when the connection features are moved toward the second position.
