A space efficient planar transformer can include a coupled inductor circuit that can include a metallic core, a first planar winding comprising a conductive coil having an electrical path encircling a first post of the metallic core, and a second planar winding configured to magnetically couple with the first winding via the metallic core. The second planar winding can have multiple portions. A portion of the second winding can include a first sub-portion comprising a single U-shaped planar conductive trace wrapped about the first post and a second sub-portion comprising a single U-shaped planar conductive trace wrapped about the first post. A layout of the first sub-portion can be oriented opposite a layout of the second sub-portion.

Transformer system

A flexible transformer system includes conductive windings extending around a magnetic core of a transformer phase and impedance-varying windings extending around the magnetic core of the transformer phase. The conductive windings and the impedance-varying windings are configured to conduct electric current around the magnetic core of the transformer phase. The system includes an impedance switch coupled with the impedance-varying windings and with the conductive windings. The impedance switch is configured to change an impedance of the system by changing which impedance-varying winding of the impedance-varying windings is conductively coupled with the conductive windings and which impedance-varying winding of the impedance-varying windings is disconnected from the conductive windings.

FULL RANGE BOOSTING DEVICE FOR ACCUMULATOR OF ON-LOAD TAP CHANGER, ACCUMULATOR, AND ON-LOAD TAP CHANGER

A full range boosting device includes two sheave intermittent mechanisms installed alternately in an up-down direction and a central gear. The two sheave intermittent mechanisms each include a dial gear, a driving dial fixed coaxially with the dial gear with no contact in axial direction, a dial round pin, a driven sheave having a radial slot, and a boosting plate fixedly connected to the driven sheave. Two dial gears are driven by the same central gear. When the driving dial of one of the sheave intermittent mechanisms rotates an angle of α1, its boosting plate rotates an angle to be boosted by a cooperation of the dial round pin and the radial slot. When the driving dial of the other sheave intermittent mechanism rotates an angle of (360°−α1), its dial round pin is exactly located at a notch of the radial slot.

Molded tap changer assemblies and methods for dry-type transformers

A tap changer assembly of a dry-type transformer. The tap changer assembly includes a first molding including multiple taps, a semi-conductive coating applied to the first molding, a conductive shield provided overtop some of the semi-conductive coating, a grounding member comprising a ring of bosses interconnected by a grounding conductor connected to the conductive shield, a second molding applied over at least a portion of the conductive shield and the grounding conductor, the second molding forming a molded sealing surface, a conductive cover coupled to the ring of bosses; and a sealing member sealing a space between the molded sealing surface and the conductive cover. Dry-type transformers and methods of forming a tap changer assembly of a dry-type transformer are provided, as are numerous other aspects.

FLEXIBLE TRANSFORMER SYSTEM

A system includes conductive windings extending around a magnetic core and impedance-varying windings extending around the magnetic core. The impedance-varying windings include positive windings and negative windings. The conductive windings and the impedance-varying windings conduct electric current around the magnetic core. The system includes a first impedance tap changer that is electrically coupled with the positive windings of the impedance-varying windings and a second impedance tap changer electrically coupled with the negative windings of the impedance-varying windings. A controller controls the first impedance tap changer and the second impedance tap changer to change an impedance of the system by changing which portion of the positive windings and which portion of the negative windings are conductively coupled with the conductive windings, and which portion of the positive windings and which portion of the negative windings are disconnected from the conductive windings.

VDT with high permeability shield

An example actuator assembly includes an actuator configured to move a rod. A variable differential transformer (VDT) is situated adjacent to the actuator. The VDT includes a core coupled to the rod such that movement of the rod causes a corresponding movement of the core. A plurality of windings surround the core for measuring displacement of the core. A shield surrounds the plurality of windings and shields the plurality of windings from a magnetic field of the actuator. The shield having a maximum permeability of 50,000-500,000. A LVDT configuration method is also disclosed.

Switched-capacitor converter with multi-tapped autotransformer

A power supply system comprises: a switched-capacitor converter, a multi-tapped autotransformer, and an output stage. The multi-tapped autotransformer includes multiple primary windings. The switched-capacitor converter includes multiple circuit paths coupled to the primary windings. For example, a first circuit path includes a first capacitor; a second circuit path includes a second capacitor. The power supply further includes a controller that controllably switches an input voltage to the first circuit path and the second circuit path, conveying energy to the primary windings of the multi-tapped autotransformer. The output stage of the power supply is coupled to receive energy from a combination of the first primary winding and the second primary winding of the multi-tapped autotransformer. Via the received energy, the output stage produces an output voltage that powers a load.

The energy storage system includes at least one energy store, a power convertor for converting between a DC voltage present at the at least one energy store and an AC voltage, a transformer for transforming between the AC voltage and a line voltage of an energy supply network, and a control device for controlling the energy storage system. The transformer is switchable for setting a transformation ratio for converting between the AC voltage and the line voltage, wherein the control device is configured to set the transformation ratio of the transformer depending on the DC voltage present at the at least one energy store.

A winding unit for connecting to a high-voltage grid or network includes a winding embedded in a solid insulating body and a first main connection terminal connected to a first winding end of the winding and disposed on a first support formed on the insulating body. A second main connection terminal is connected to a second winding end of the winding. The winding has partial windings and taps for adjusting the number of windings of the partial windings connected in series. Outgoing lines extending in the insulating body connect the taps to a tap connection terminal accessible from the outside. The tap connection terminals are formed on the support in order to encapsulate the higher voltage in a resin block over the entire periphery by using a shielding cage.
