An infusion device (10) includes one or more of automatic insertion and retraction of an introducer needle (40) and catheter (28), introducer needle safety and extension set. The device (10) can further comprise a top-push button (16) activation feature, a side-push button (402) activation feature or a rotary-button (412) activation feature, and one or more of a manual interlock of an outer barrel and base, and a manual interlock for an extension set top and base. Packaging (500) for an integrated and/or removable inserter with activation button protection is also disclosed.
RETRACTABLE NEEDLE WITH DAMPING
Various embodiments pertain to syringes having needles that automatically retract, and including syringe assemblies in which there is a means for damping any impact of the retracting needle, slowing the retracting needle, dissipating the kinetic energy of the needle, or the like, so as to lessen any jolt or disturbance experienced by the user.
Ambulatory device and components thereof
Certain embodiments provide multi-medicament or single medicament infusion systems for preventing the cross-channeling or improper delivery of medicaments. The system may include one or more of an infusion pump, medicament cartridges, cartridge connectors, a multi-channel fluid conduit, and an infusion set. The medicament cartridges may be sized and shaped differently such that the medicament reservoirs can only be inserted into the pump under selected configurations.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR SELECTIVELY OCCLUDING THE LUMEN OF A NEEDLE
A fluid transfer device for parenterally transferring fluid to and/or from a patient includes a housing, a needle, and an occlusion mechanism. The housing defines a fluid flow path and is couplable to a fluid reservoir. The needle has a distal end portion that is configured to be inserted into the patient and a proximal end portion that is configured to be fluidically coupled to the fluid flow path of the housing, and defines a lumen therebetween. The occlusion mechanism selectively controls a fluid flow between the needle and the fluid flow path. The occlusion mechanism includes an occlusion member that is movable between a first configuration where the lumen of the needle is obstructed during insertion into the patient and a second configuration where the lumen of the needle is unobstructed after the needle has been inserted into the patient allowing fluid transfer to or from the patient.
Injection Assembly Apparatuses, Systems, and Methods
An injection port assembly may comprise a support body having a receptacle associated with a passage through the support body. The receptacle may have at least one recess in an end surface of the receptacle. The receptacle may have a plurality of retainer members. The assembly may further comprise a peripheral rim rib about a periphery of the support body and a number of additional ribs extending from the receptacle to the peripheral rim rib. The assembly may further comprise a delivery assembly coupled within the receptacle via the retainer members. The delivery assembly may have a cannula extending through the passage. The delivery assembly may have an injection receiving volume within the delivery assembly in fluid communication with a lumen of the cannula but otherwise fluidically sealed by a self-sealing barrier. There may be a sole externally accessible portion of the barrier aligned with an axis of the lumen.
INFUSION SET AND INSERTER ASSEMBLY APPARATUSES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS
An inserter assembly may comprise a casing having an open end and a closed end. The inserter assembly may further comprise a first unit at least partially within the casing movable relative to the casing. The first unit may comprise a device base. The first unit may further comprise a sharp. The first unit may further comprise a body configured to displace in tandem with the sharp at least during displacement of the sharp from a forward to a retracted state. The first unit may further comprise a bias member configured to displace the body toward the closed end and displace the sharp to the retracted state when a release latch is transitioned from an engaged to a released state. One of the casing and the body may include a projection which engenders tilting of the body as the body and sharp are displaced by the bias member.
Subcutaneous infusion needle stick prevention device using needle hub retraction
A needle stick prevention device (10, 110) includes a needle shield (20, 120) for selectively covering a distal end of a needle (41, 141). A needle hub (40, 140) is movably received within the needle shield (20, 120). The needle hub (40, 140) includes a proximal end (42, 142), a distal end (46, 146), a needle (41, 141) fixedly connected to the distal end of the needle hub (40, 140), and a plurality of ribs (54) or a cylinder (150) disposed between the proximal and distal ends. An actuation button movably received in a transverse opening of the needle shield (20, 120) to engage the needle shield (20, 120), the needle hub (40, 140) and a medical device. A spring (58, 158) is disposed between the needle hub (40, 140) and actuation member to automatically retract the needle (41, 141) into the needle shield (20, 120).
Flexible cannula insertion device, system and process
An insertion set system includes a base configured to be secured to a patient, and a flexible tubing on the base. The flexible tubing has a distal end portion forming a cannula to be inserted into the patient. An inserter having a needle is received by the base. The needle has a channel in which the distal end portion of the flexible tubing is received. The needle is able to slide relative to the flexible tubing, to selectively withdraw the needle off of the distal end portion of the flexible tubing. The base may include a passage for fluid flow arranged transverse to the axial dimension of the distal end portion of the flexible tubing.
COMBINED INFUSION SET AND SENSOR
In one embodiment, an infusion set and sensor assembly delivered within a subject is disclosed. The assembly includes a cannula that is terminated at a cannula opening. The assembly further includes a sharp that is at least partially within the hollow of the cannula. A sensor having a proximal end and a distal end is also included in the assembly. The proximal end of the sensor is held in a fixed location while the distal end is retained with a portion of the cannula. The sensor further includes sensor slack, wherein transitioning the sharp from a first position to a second position simultaneously inserts the cannula and sensor to a desired insertion depth within a subject via a single point of insertion.
Invisible needle
The invention relates to an inserter for an infusion set for intermittent or continuous administration of a therapeutical substance, such as e.g. insulin. The inserter comprises a needle hub comprising an insertion needle and two spring units assuring automatic insertion and automatic retraction of the insertion needle. The inserter comprises a housing (1), a carrier body (2) carrying an infusion part (8), a needle hub (3), a first moving unit (4) bringing the carrier body (2) to a forward position and a second moving unit (5) bringing the carrier body (2) to a retracted position. The inserter is characterized in that it has means for activation which should be activated at least once in order to bring the carrier body (2) from a retracted to a forward position, and back from the forward to the retracted position.
