HYBRID DRUG DELIVERY DEVICES WITH OPTIONAL GRIP PORTION AND RELATED METHOD OF PREPARATION

Drug delivery devices are described that provide hybrid forms with optional gripping functionalities. For example, the devices can include a grip portion on a skin contact surface with a release liner disposed thereon. A user can operate the devices with the release liner disposed on the grip portion or can remove the release liner so that the grip portion is able to aid users in orienting and supporting the device during an injection operation.

SAFETY NEEDLE SYSTEM OPERABLE WITH A MEDICAL DEVICE

A safety needle system operable with a medical device includes: a housing with a needle mount having a needle; and a sheath telescopically engaged with the housing and surrounding the needle such that the sheath operates in a retracted position, in which the sheath exposes the needle, and an extended position, in which the sheath surrounds the needle. The sheath is coupleable to the medical device such that removal of the needle from the medical device draws the sheath over the needle, transitioning the sheath from the retracted position to the extended position. In one embodiment, the system includes a slider engaged with the sheath and/or housing and including a restraint that engages and disengages the sheath to respectively reinforce and weaken the coupling of the sheath and medical device. In another embodiment, the sheath includes a longitudinal track that slidingly engages a setting of the housing between sheath positions.

Needle protector, needle assembly and fluid processing set including the same

Needle protector assemblies including needle assemblies and needle protectors for housing used blood collection needles are disclosed. The needle protectors are single-piece protectors that include an open distal end for receiving a needle hub (with a needle mounted thereon). A retaining member locks the needle hub when the needle hub is substantially retracted. A stop engages the needle hub in a fully retracted position such that a needle post is completely contained within an interior chamber of the needle protectors. A viewing slot in the needle protectors is provided.

Injector and method of assembly

An injector may include a container having a wall with an interior surface and a seal assembly with an interior surface, the interior surfaces of the wall and the seal assembly defining a closed sterile reservoir filled with a drug product. The injector may also include a fluid delivery system comprising a clean, unsheathed, rigid container needle having a point disposed only partially through the seal assembly in a storage state, and disposed through the interior surface of the seal assembly into the sterile reservoir in a delivery state. Further, the injection may include an actuator that is adapted to move the container needle from the storage state to the delivery state.

Piercing member for container access device

A device for transferring fluids includes a piercing member having a distal end and a proximal end and defines a longitudinal fluid channel. An opening is positioned at the distal end of the piercing member with the opening in fluid communication with the longitudinal fluid channel. Further, a sleeve having a proximal end and a distal end includes an extended position where the sleeve surrounds the piercing member and a retracted position where the sleeve is retracted from the distal end of the piercing member. The sleeve defines an opening at the distal end of the sleeve with a gap defined between the retractable sleeve and the piercing member.

MEDICAL NEEDLE WITH PROTECTOR

There is provided a medical needle with a protector that allows separately molded hub and protector to be easily assembled together. A medical needle with a protector (1) includes: a hub (3) that supports a needle tube (2); a protector (4) capable of storing the needle tube (2); a first lock unit (42a, 42b, 73) that locks the hub (3) to the protector (4) capable of unlocking in a first state; and a second lock unit (43, 75) that locks the hub (3) to the protector (4) incapable of a transition to the first state in a second state. The protector includes a large cylindrical portion (41), a protrusion piece (43), and a width-increased portion (42). The width-increased portion (42) is provided on the outer peripheral side of the protrusion piece (43) and has a minor axis and a major axis. The protrusion piece (43) is formed integrally with the large cylindrical portion (41) on the major axis side of the width-increased portion (42).

FLUID PATH ASSEMBLY FOR A DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE

Fluid path assemblies for drug delivery devices and methods of establishing a fluid flow path for drug delivery devices are described that include a needle shield valve member that couples to a reservoir having a needle mounted thereto. The needle shield valve member includes an internal barrier that protects the needle and/or contains a drug within the reservoir until activation of the drug delivery device. Upon activation, there is relative movement between the reservoir and needle shield valve member until the needle pierces the barrier to establish a fluid flow path from the reservoir through the needle shield valve member.

THERAPEUTIC INFUSION NEEDLE

Devices and methods useful for injecting therapeutics into the body of a patient are illustrated and described herein. In certain aspects, needle assemblies comprising a needle having a needle shaft with one or more side openings and a needle sheath slidably moveable along the needle shaft to selectively expose or cover all or a portion of the one or more side openings are provided. Such assemblies may include an interference fit between the needle sheath and the needle shaft and/or a seal positioned around the needle shaft proximal of the plurality of one or more side openings and configured to prevent fluid from leaking between the needle sheath and the needle shaft and beyond a proximal end of the needle sheath.

FLUID COLLECTION INJECTION NEEDLE

A liquid collection-injection needle assembly is provided including a needle cap that accommodates and protects a needle, and that is designed to be used for other purposes as well, so that the needle cap is effectively used, and the number of parts required for assembly is reduced. The assembly includes a needle holding member that holds a needle after needle has been inserted into holding member, and a needle cap that is configured to be connected detachably to a front part of needle holding member, and to protect the exposed portion of needle that is exposed from the needle holding member after needle has been inserted into needle holding member. In the state where needle cap communicates with needle holding member, an end portion of the needle cap is capable of communicating with a rear part of needle holding member.

INTRAVENOUS DEVICE ASSEMBLY WITH NEEDLE GUARD

An intravenous (IV) device assembly may include a catheter adapter and a needle guard residing within a bore of the catheter adapter. The needle guard may include a needle formed through a guard bore. The guard bore may include a first internal diameter along a first bore portion and a second internal diameter, smaller than the first bore portion, along a second bore portion. A clip may be coupled to the exterior surface of the needle guard. The clip may include a first arm, which may include a first end guard, and a second arm, which may include a second end guard. The clip may be slidable distally along the exterior surface of the needle guard to move from an open configuration to a closed configuration, thereby blocking distal motion of the needle within the needle guard.
