Protective cover for medical spike products
A protective cover or sleeve for a medical spike product is provided. The protective cover includes a first panel having a lower edge, and a second panel having a lower edge, wherein the first panel and the second panel are connected at their lower edges, respectively. The first panel and the second panel are configured to be spaced apart to form a protective sleeve. The protective sleeve is configured to receive the medical spike product such that the first panel and the second panel protectively cover and enable aseptic handling of a spike end of the medical spike product and prevent the spike end from breaching a sterile barrier. The protective sleeve may be made from a paper-based material. A medical spike product assembly including the protective cover and a medical spike product inserted therein is also provided.
Infusion set with safety device
An infusion base for attachment to a user of an infusion set comprises an adapter having a lower portion, an inner wall portion, and a gap between the lower portion and the inner wall portion. At least one of the lower portion and the inner wall portion is configured to receive an attachment.
Soft push tabs for catheter adapter
An IV catheter system may have a catheter component and a needle component. The catheter component may have a catheter hub, a cannula extending distally from the catheter hub, and a push feature extending outward from the catheter hub. The push feature may have an outer surface that receives contact from a digit to move the IV catheter system from an insertion configuration, in which the needle is within the cannula, to a fluid delivery configuration, in which the needle is outside the catheter hub. The needle component may have a needle hub and a needle extending distally from the needle hub along an axis. The push feature may be formed of a flexible material that causes the push feature, in response to pressure exerted on the outer surface by a dressing securing the catheter component to a patient, to deflect the outer surface toward the cannula axis.
Drug delivery device with protective needle cap control and device activation mechanism
A drug delivery device includes an outer body receiving a cartridge with a needle, a needle cap adapted to be coupled to the outer body and to cover the needle and a control mechanism for activating the drug delivery device. The control mechanism includes a control element received within the outer body and axially and/or rotationally movable relative to the outer body between an initial position, a first activating position, and a second activating position. The control element is coupled to the needle cap and to the cartridge, the needle cap is retained on the outer body when the control element is in the initial position, the needle cap is released from the outer body and the needle is covered by the outer body when the control element is in the first activating position, and the needle is exposed when the control element is in the second activating position.
Intravenous needle assembly having blood dispensing capabilities
A needle assembly can include a needle and a proximal compartment forming a reservoir for collecting blood that flows through an inner lumen of needle. The needle assembly may also include a needle tip shield for capturing a sharpened distal tip of the needle. The needle tip shield can form a fluid pathway through which blood contained within the reservoir is expelled. The volume of the reservoir can be reduced to cause blood to be expelled from the needle tip shield such as by compressing the proximal compartment or a plunger connected to the proximal compartment or by moving a plunger into the reservoir. The fluid pathway of the needle tip shield can either be the same pathway through which the sharpened distal tip is withdrawn into the needle tip shield, or can be a separate pathway.
Intravenous (IV) catheter apparatus
An intravenous (IV)catheter apparatus comprising: a tubular catheter (10) having a proximal end (50) and a distal end (16) mounted to a catheter hub (40); a needle (12) defining an axial direction (A) having a needle shaft (22) with a needle tip (14) at a distal end (16) and a needle hub mounted to the proximal end (50) of the needle shaft (22); a needle guard (30) arranged movably on the needle shaft (22), wherein said needle shaft (22) extends through said tubular catheter (10) such that said needle tip (14) of said needle (12) protrudes from said distal end (16) of said tubular catheter (10); and wherein said needle shaft (22) is provided with: an engagement means (26) adapted to engage with the said needle guard (30) in order to prevent said needle guard (30) from sliding off said needle tip (14); and one or more lateral openings (28) covered by said tubular catheter (10).
Sealed needle assembly for medicament delivery device
The disclosure relates to a needle assembly adapted to couple with a medicament delivery device including a needle having a proximal tip and a distal tip, a needle hub coupled to the needle, a body adapted to engage the needle hub, a removable needle cap adapted to cover the distal tip, and a removable sealing element. The sealing element is adapted to seal an open proximal end of a compartment of the body, including the proximal tip, in such a manner that the proximal tip is housed in a sealed environment before use of the needle. The disclosure further relates to a medicament delivery device including such a needle assembly.
METHOD OF ASSEMBLING AND FILLING A DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE
An injector may include a container having a wall with an interior surface and a seal assembly with an interior surface, the interior surfaces of the wall and the seal assembly defining a closed sterile reservoir filled with a drug product. The injector may also include a fluid delivery system comprising a clean, unsheathed, rigid container needle having a point disposed only partially through the seal assembly in a storage state, and disposed through the interior surface of the seal assembly into the sterile reservoir in a delivery state. Further, the injection may include an actuator that is adapted to move the container needle from the storage state to the delivery state.
Spike cap and pretreatment method for infusion set using said spike cap
An infusion set employing a spike cap, arranged at which there is an opening configured to prevent passage therethrough of solid or liquid but to allow passage therethrough of gas at interior of the cap, hydrophobic filter being arranged at a location inward from where a tip of spike is inserted at interior of the cap by way of an insertion port, and a lid exterior of the opening for closing the opening; and in which there are hook(s) for anchoring to infusion tubing and a clip equipped with a catch for a flange arranged at the spike. Employing the cap at the infusion set makes it possible to carry out preprocessing including priming and backpriming by a simple operation without leakage of liquid.
Flow pathway subassembly
a flow pathway subassembly (264, 278) including medicament flow pathway components of a medical device, and a holder (270, 280) configured for holding the components so that a center of gravity of the subassembly is disposed substantially on a central longitudinal axis of the subassembly.
