IV membrane attachment systems and methods

An intravenous delivery system may have a liquid source containing a liquid, tubing, and an anti-run-dry membrane positioned such that the liquid, flowing form the liquid source to the tubing, passes through the anti-run-dry membrane. The anti-run-dry membrane may be positioned within an exterior wall of a drip unit, and may be secured to a seat of the exterior wall by an attachment component. The attachment component may have various forms, such as a secondary exterior wall that cooperates with the exterior wall to define a drip chamber, a washer positioned such that the anti-run-dry membrane is between the washer and the seat, and an adhesive ring formed of a pressure sensitive adhesive and secured to the anti-run-dry membrane and the seat via compression. Interference features may protrude inward from the exterior wall or outward from the anti-run-dry membrane to help keep the anti-run-dry membrane in place.

Medical Syringe System with Filtered Filling Port

A syringe system includes a syringe and a filtration device connected to the syringe for sterilizing and introducing fluid into the syringe. The syringe includes a syringe barrel having a proximal end defining a barrel opening, a distal end defining a delivery opening, a bore extending between the proximal end and the distal end, and a stopper disposed in the bore of the syringe barrel. The filtration device has an inlet and an outlet coupled in fluid communication with the delivery opening at the distal end of the syringe barrel. The filtration device includes a stem and a filter membrane disposed in line with the stem. The filter membrane optionally has a plurality of pores each with a nominal pore size in a range of approximately 0.1 m to approximately 0.5 m such that a pharmaceutical fluid can be introduced as a sterilized pharmaceutical fluid into the bore of the syringe barrel by passing through the filtration device.

DEVICE FOR ADMINISTERING AN INFUSION OR TRANSFUSION, SYSTEM COMPRISING SUCH A DEVICE, AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING SUCH A DEVICE
20240024569 · 2024-01-25 ·

A device for administering an infusion or transfusion of liquid from a container includes a pump for pumping liquid to a patient connection via a conduit having a liquid-retaining filter membrane. The device also includes a pressure measuring device for acquiring measurement values corresponding to a pump-inlet-side pressure, and a control device for detecting a change in the pump-inlet-side pressure based on the measurement values. The control device determines, based on the change in the pump-inlet-side pressure, whether to stop pumping. The control device also generates a control signal when the pumping is to be stopped. Moreover, the control device emits, based on the control signal, a communication signal to a data connection between the device and a unit that reads the communication signal. In addition, or in the alternative, the control device switches the device from a first state to a second state based on the control signal.
