A medicament injection device is disclosed comprising a housing containing a medicament cartridge holder; a rotatable cap assembly; a needle holder holding a needle, the needle holder being releasably supported by the cap assembly, a pre-stressed spring coupled to the medicament cartridge holder; wherein the cap assembly is arranged so that rotation thereof releases the pre-stressed spring, causing the medicament cartridge holder to move axially in a distal direction towards the needle. A method of operating the device is also disclosed.

Micro-volume injectors with dose guidance and methods for use

Injector devices and methods for using them to deliver medicament into a patient's body, e.g., sub-retinally within an eye, are provided. The injector includes a cartridge including a piston slidably disposed within an interior for delivering medicament within the interior through an outlet, and a driver including a plunger coupled to the piston, a source of pressurized fluid, and an actuator member for opening a flow path at least partially between the source and the plunger to advance the plunger and piston to deliver medicament from the interior. One or more sensors are operatively coupled to the plunger to measure displacement of the plunger, a processor is coupled to the sensor(s) for analyzing sensor signals to measure volume of medicament delivered from the interior, and an output device, e.g., one or more LEDs or speakers, provide outputs related to the volume of medicament delivered.

AUTO INJECTOR WITH VARIABLE PLUNGER FORCE

Disclosed is a method and an auto-injector for administering a medicament. The auto injector comprising: a housing; a cartridge receiver configured to receive a cartridge comprising a first stopper; a drive module coupled to move a plunger rod between a retracted plunger rod position and an extended plunger rod position, the plunger rod being configured to move the first stopper; a resistance sensor configured to provide a resistance signal indicative of resistance against movement of the plunger rod; and a processing unit coupled to the drive module and to the resistance sensor. The processing unit being configured to: control the drive module to move the plunger rod towards the extended plunger rod position with a plunger rod speed; determine plunger rod position; receive the resistance signal; and control the drive module to adjust movement of the plunger rod if the resistance signal is indicative of resistance against movement of the plunger rod above a high resistance threshold, wherein the high resistance threshold is based on the plunger rod position.

Aspects of the present invention relate to an injection device comprising a housing configured to house a syringe, an activation member, a drive mechanism configured to, upon activation by the activation member, drive the plunger driver between a first, initial, position and a second, final, position thereby to operate the syringe within the housing and a damping mechanism configured to damp movement of the plunger driver in either a forward or rearward motion. In this way, tolerances in plunger position may be accounted for. Plunger position may affect the amount of travel of the plunger driver before the plunger driver is in contact with the plunger and the plunger is in contact with the drug within the barrel. During this travel, the drive force may cause rapid acceleration of the plunger driver, which may then cause damage to the syringe or discomfort to the recipient of the injection when contact between the three elements is made. Damping of the forward motion of the plunger driver reduces or overcomes the risk of this.

SYSTEMS, DEVICES, AND PROCESSES FOR DELIVERY OF THERAPEUTIC FLUIDS

A therapeutic agent delivery system (10) includes a housing (16) and a drive wheel (38) rotatably carried by the housing. A plunger rod (50) may be rotatable with the drive wheel relative to the housing from a first rotational configuration to a second rotational configuration. The plunger rod may be translatable relative to the housing from a first translational configuration to a second translational configuration. A plunger restraint (58) may maintain the plunger rod in the first translational configuration when the plunger rod is disposed in the first rotational configuration. The plunger restraint may permit the plunger rod to translate to the second translational configuration when the plunger rod is disposed in the second rotational configuration. A needle may move from a stowed configuration to a deployed configuration by the plunger rod when the plunger rod moves from the first translational configuration to the second translational configuration.
