The control unit (12) assigns the function to the pedal (2, 3) via the interface (10) and the assigned function is displayed on the foot switch (1, 26) by a multicolor LED (4, 5).

The power control device may provide power to the controller and the display when the apparatus is being tampered with. When the controller is powered, it may cause the power control device to cause the display to change from a state that indicates that the apparatus is authenticated to another state that indicates that the apparatus has been tampered with. The power control device may include a battery and a switch, or a power harvester, which can be configured to provide power to the controller when the apparatus is being tampered with.

Present disclosure relates to a faceplate having programmable functionality markings for a switching device. The faceplate includes a functionality marking programmer, a functionality marking input interface, a functionality marking display and a circuit board. A user uses functionality marking programmer to designate switching device to a specific functionality with a corresponding functionality marking. The circuit board includes a control module. The control module includes a processor and a non-volatile memory storing an operating system and computer executable instructions, when executed at processor, computer executable instructions cause processor to: receive, from user through functionality marking input interface, functionality marking programming instructions, designate, by a functionality marking programmer, one of a set of functionality markings to the switching device according to the functionality marking programming instructions received from the functionality marking input interface, and display, by the functionality marking display on the faceplate, the programmed functionality marking of the switching device.

Key module

A key module including a base, a circuit layer, at least one light-transmission key body, and a display panel is provided. The circuit layer is disposed at the base and has at least one input portion. The light-transmission key body has an abutting end and a pressing end opposite to each other. The abutting end abuts the base, and the light-transmission key body is adapted to be pressed downward by taking the abutting end as a rotation axis, such that the pressing end presses the input portion. The display panel is disposed at the base and has at least one display region, the display region is aligned with the light-transmission key body, and an image displayed on the display region by the display panel is changeable.

A user input device in the form of a rotatable and linearly displaceable control ring, which is housed in the housing, can extend within a portion of the opening such that the control ring is recessed from the first side of the housing. A display that can visually communicate tool information and selectable settings to the user can be positioned within the housing, and centrally located relative to a central bore of the control ring. The display, which can remain relatively static relative to a rotational displacement of the control ring, can be inwardly offset from a first side of the control ring, and thus also recessed within the housing.
